What Dropbox Paper is
Dropbox Paper is a web-based collaborative document tool for teams, with shared documents built around timelines, to-dos, and tables. Team members can assign to-dos, set due dates, and track them in a Things to do sidebar. Timelines bring deadlines, files, and to-dos together, with week, month, quarter, and year views. Paper is free and has no limit on the number of documents in a Dropbox account; each document uses less than 100 bytes of Dropbox storage. A Dropbox account and sign-in are required to create or access documents. Paper supports real-time collaboration, track changes, and offline editing. It is available on the web and through Android and iOS, though the separate mobile app was discontinued on October 9, 2025; timelines on mobile are read-only. On the Dropbox desktop app, documents open on dropbox.com unless exported as PDF, DOCX, or Markdown. Paper encrypts documents at rest with 256-bit AES and in transit with SSL/TLS. The Paper Slack integration's commands and previews do not work with the new Paper release.
