Xiaomi is set to release its newest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra next month and a recent leak has revealed some exciting information about its camera system. The leak confirms that the phone will have a four-camera setup that will cover the entire focal range, including a new sensor for the secondary camera. The primary camera will feature the IMX989 sensor, which is renowned for its exceptional image quality and has a large sensor size of 1 inch.

The variable aperture technology in Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s main camera will be a game-changer, allowing users to adjust the aperture size during shooting for better blurring effects and improved adaptability to different lighting conditions. This is the first time Xiaomi’s smartphone cameras will have this feature, making the Xiaomi 13 Ultra stand out in the competitive smartphone camera market.

Meanwhile, we also seem to have an inkling of what the pricing structure of the upcoming Xiaomi flagship phone is going to be like. According to unverified reports, the starting model of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage and is going to be priced at CNY 6,299 (approximately $916). This represents a CNY 299 increase over last year’s Xiaomi 12S Ultra with the same memory configuration. The 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage variant is expected to be priced at CNY 6,799 ($988), while the high-end model with 16 GB of RAM and 521 GB of storage will reportedly cost CNY 7,499 ($1,090). However, it’s important to note that these are just rumors and not officially confirmed prices.

It sounds like Xiaomi has quite the lineup for their upcoming launch event. There are rumors that Xiaomi will make an announcement on April 18, possibly debuting the 13 Ultra, so we can expect to learn more about it then. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s camera system, with its four cameras and variable aperture technology, is definitely a standout feature, and the collaboration with Leica should only add to its appeal for photography enthusiasts. It will be interesting to see how the Xiaomi 13 Ultra stacks up against other large-screen flagships in terms of overall performance and features, as well as how the other new products from Xiaomi are received by consumers.
