Samsung’s November 2024 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) lists Google/Android and Samsung patches, but it does not mean every Galaxy phone or watch received the same package at the same time. Whether the update is available depends on the exact model and service version; check your device’s Software update screen and compare its model, build and security patch level.
What Samsung’s November 2024 update includes
Samsung says its November SMR includes Google patches through the Android Security Bulletin November 2024 package, Samsung Mobile security (SVE) items and a Samsung Semiconductor patch, CVE-2024-45185. These are separate patch streams, and an archive entry does not establish that every device received every item.
Samsung’s release page also notes that some listed CVEs were already included in previous updates, some are not applicable to Samsung devices, and some SVE items cannot be disclosed. Do not treat every identifier in the bulletin as a newly fixed issue affecting every Galaxy device.

- Modem IpcProtocol (SVE-2024-0956 / CVE-2024-34673): Samsung describes improper input validation affecting Android 12, 13 and 14 devices. A local attacker could cause a denial of service before the November release; Samsung says the fix removes unnecessary implementation in IpcProtocol.
- Contacts (SVE-2024-1222 / CVE-2024-34674): Samsung lists improper access control affecting Android 12, 13 and 14, which could let a local attacker access or modify contact information.
- Subtitle parsing (SVE-2024-1481 / CVE-2024-34676): Samsung describes an out-of-bounds write in libsubextractor.so affecting Android 12, 13 and 14. Exploitation requires user interaction and could cause memory corruption.
- Galaxy Watch Bluetooth (SVE-2024-1666 / CVE-2024-34681): Samsung lists an input-validation issue affecting Android Watch 13 and 14 that could let a local attacker cause permanent denial of service.
- Maintenance Mode (SVE-2024-1697 / CVE-2024-34682): Samsung lists an authorization issue in Settings on Android 14 that could let a physical attacker access a stored Wi-Fi password.
Why you may not see the update yet
Samsung says release timing may vary depending on device version, model or service version. A November patch level can arrive later than November: for example, Samsung’s record for Galaxy A12 model SM-A125U1 lists build A125U1UESACXK1, released on 2024-12-09, with security patch level 2024-11-01. That is one model variant’s record, not a schedule for all Galaxy devices.
To check your own device:
- Open Settings > Software update > Download and install.
- Check your exact model number and, under software information, the build number and security patch level.
- Compare those details with a Samsung update notice for that model and service variant; do not rely on the month label alone.

Does a November security patch level mean my update arrived in November?
No. Samsung’s Galaxy A12 SM-A125U1 record shows a build released on 2024-12-09 with patch level 2024-11-01, illustrating that the patch-level date and delivery date can differ.
What should I check if my Galaxy still has an older patch?
Check Settings > Software update > Download and install, then confirm your exact model, build number and security patch level. Compare them with a Samsung notice for your model and service variant; availability may vary.
