Xiaomi’s global product page lists the POCO F5 with a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chipset; early leak claims should not be treated as official specifications.
What was reported before launch
The March 9, 2023 report described a leak-and-speculation period and said no official launch date or price had been announced at the time. It connected model 23049PCD8G with the POCO F5 and reported 5G, Bluetooth, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and infrared support, as well as 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. Those details were leak-era claims, not a definitive product specification sheet.
Contemporary reporting also suggested the POCO F5 was related to China’s Redmi Note 12 Turbo. Treat that as a reported counterpart or inference, rather than a relationship established by Xiaomi’s product specifications.
When did the POCO F5 launch?
POCO India announced a May 9, 2023 launch at 5:30 p.m. IST, according to Gadgets 360. Notebookcheck reported the global event for the same day at 13:00 UTC. These reports confirmed the eventual launch timing after the original leak story.

Did the POCO F5 officially use a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1?
No. An early leak report associated a different model number with that chipset. Xiaomi’s global POCO F5 product page lists the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.
Was the POCO F5 a Redmi Note 12 Turbo rebrand?
Contemporary coverage described the phones as likely counterparts based on teasers and chipset links. Xiaomi’s product page confirms POCO F5 specifications but does not itself establish that naming relationship.
