The POCO F5 series has been a frequent topic of many a leak and speculation in recent weeks. Xiaomiui uncovered the POCO F5 on an IMEI database last month, and the FCC disclosed the specifications for the 23013PC75G model, which appears to have a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. The same regulatory body has now certified the 23049PCD8G, which shares the same model number as the one connected to the POCO F5 on the IMEI database.

As expected, the 23049PCD8G is equipped with 5G, Bluetooth, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and infrared capabilities. According to the FCC, Xiaomi will release two variants of the device with 8 GB and 12 GB of RAM, along with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. The 23049PCD8G is also reported to run on MIUI 14 based on Android 13, which is a departure from the POCO X5 5G that runs on Android 12.

Xiaomi is anticipated to launch the POCO F5 as a rebranded version of either the Redmi Note 12 Turbo or Redmi Note 12T, both of which will utilize the SM7475, codenamed the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 2, along with other mid-range hardware. The Redmi Note 12 Turbo or Redmi Note 12T is set to be released in China later this month, while the POCO F5 is expected to be launched in April. There is no official information available regarding the launch date and pricing of either device yet.
