What Quine is
Quine is an open-source platform that processes incoming event streams as connected graph data, monitors graph patterns, and can send matching results to other systems. Its standing queries remain active as events arrive and can trigger configured actions when they find a complete match. Documented inputs include Kafka, Kinesis, files, S3, SQS, server-sent events, WebSockets, and reactive streams. Results can be routed to Kafka, Kinesis, SNS, HTTP webhooks, files, Slack, or Cypher queries. Quine supports Cypher and Gremlin, and its Exploration UI provides an interactive canvas for examining streaming data. The open-source edition costs nothing and is available through Docker, an executable JAR, or source code. The executable requires Java JRE 11 or newer, and storage capacity limits graph size. Enterprise adds multi-member clustering, high availability with standby nodes and failover, role-based access controls, identity-provider integration, audit logging, tenant isolation, and professional support. Standing-query delivery is best effort: results may be dropped if a queue fills, an output fails, or the process restarts.
Good
- Open-source edition is available at no cost.
- Accepts a range of event-stream and file inputs.
- Supports Cypher and Gremlin graph queries.
- Enterprise adds clustering and high availability.
Watch out
- Storage capacity limits graph size.
- Executable requires Java JRE 11 or newer.
- Standing-query outputs may be dropped.
Who it suits
Quine suits teams that need to turn event streams into connected graph data and monitor incoming events for patterns. Organizations that need clustering, high availability, enterprise controls, or professional support can consider Enterprise.
Verdict
Quine combines graph construction, ongoing pattern monitoring, and configurable output routing. Its open-source edition has a storage-based graph-size limit, and standing-query output is not guaranteed.
