What GameRanger is

GameRanger is a managed service for playing more than 700 games and demos online with friends and opponents. It supports Mac and PC, with supported titles grouped into Mac, PC, and cross-platform categories. Players can join a listed game room or create a game by choosing Host Game. Profiles, friends lists, instant messaging, and in-game voice communication support social play; competitive ladders, rankings, and ratings are also available. The free Bronze plan costs nothing and includes hosting and joining games, dedicated server lists, instant messaging, a basic profile, and up to 50 friends. Silver costs $19.95 a year and adds full voice communication, a unique account name, a custom icon, exclusive chat rooms, and a 100-friend limit. Gold costs $39.95 a year, supports up to 500 friends, removes ad banners, and adds hosted chat rooms, away-message auto-replies, and an expanded profile. Silver and Gold include a 30 Day Refund. Account creation requires a valid email address and an activation email. GameRanger was created by Scott Kevill and opened to Mac gaming in 1999; GameRanger Pty Ltd is located in Perth, Australia.
