Ecosia Browser is a free browser presented as a way to fund tree planting through browsing. Ecosia search is built into the address bar, and users can view an Ecosia profile describing their contribution to people, the planet and animals. The browser uses Chromium and includes ad blocking, cross-device sync and a privacy panel. The panel warns about unsafe sites and lets users set cookie preferences across sites. Ecosia says the browser limits background activity to conserve battery power, and that its AI runs on European servers using smaller models than most mainstream models. The maker also says pages can load up to three times faster than most mainstream browsers. It is available for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS and Windows. Desktop requirements are Windows 10 or later, macOS 13 or later, or Linux; Linux is verified on Ubuntu 25.10 and later, with full functionality not guaranteed on other distributions. Browser data such as history, bookmarks and passwords can be imported, though automatic detection does not detect Safari data and Firefox may offer only limited import options.
