Bare Browser
Bare Browser is a free, open-source Chromium browser for Android that describes itself as de-Googled.
What Bare Browser is
Bare Browser is a free, open-source Chromium browser for Android that describes itself as de-Googled. It supports Chrome Web Store extensions, including Bitwarden and Dark Reader, and includes the removable uBlock Origin extension for ad blocking. DuckDuckGo is the default search engine, though you can add and manage others in settings. Supported video can continue playing with audio after you switch apps or lock your phone, and downloads can stay in the browser or go to an external manager such as 1DM.
Bare says it removes telemetry, Google sign-in prompts, Firebase registration, and built-in AI surfaces. Browsing data stays in the local browser profile, with no Bare account or cloud sync for that data. Some network activity remains, including Chromium security-component updates, uBlock Origin filter-list updates, and checks that can contact GitHub. Safe Browsing is unavailable in this public Chromium build. Bare is in alpha for Android 10 and newer; APKs and release notes are linked through GitHub, while Google Play and F-Droid are marked as coming soon.
