To give AI music a realistic chance of earning YouTube revenue, make each upload meaningfully original, confirm the generator’s commercial-use terms for the specific track, document your own contribution, and disclose realistic synthetic content when YouTube requires it. Use this checklist before publishing from your Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone.
Checklist: Prepare A Track You Can Stand Behind
- Choose a distinct purpose for this upload. Write down what the music is for, such as a short background track for a phone-filming tutorial or a longer instrumental for a travel video. Decide its mood, energy, and structure before generating. A prompt could be: “Instrumental background music for a calm smartphone night-photography tutorial; restrained opening, steady middle, gentle ending; leave space for spoken instructions.” This is a prompt example, not a claim about a particular generator’s genre controls.
- Use your own prompt and any lyrics you have permission to use. Describe the arrangement and intended use in your own words. Avoid asking for a real person’s voice or copying lyrics, melodies, or recordings unless you have the necessary consent and rights. Check the generator’s terms and YouTube’s rules for the material you use.
- Generate alternatives, then make a deliberate edit. Compare the opening, transitions, and ending against your video. Keep a version only if it serves that video; revise or replace sections that do not. Save notes about the choices you made. Available editing features vary by product, so check the vendor’s site for the exact controls in your plan.
- Check the current commercial-use terms for this exact output. Confirm the plan covers commercial use and YouTube publication, and note any attribution, download, or plan-period conditions. A free tier or a paid subscription alone does not establish those rights. Save the applicable terms and your plan receipt alongside the project.
- Keep evidence of your contribution. Save the prompt, drafts, edits, project files, and export details. In the United States, the Copyright Office says entirely AI-generated works are not copyrightable and prompts alone do not make someone the author; human-authored portions of a mixed work may be protected. Its guidance also says applicants registering a work with more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose it and describe the human contribution. Checklist: Make The Upload Distinctive
- Build a video around the track. Add original footage, narration, explanation, or editing choices that make the upload useful in its own right. A static image paired with a sequence of near-identical AI tracks may look template-based.
- Vary the creative work for a real reason. If you publish a series, make each track and video serve a different purpose. Changing only a title, image, or prompt wording may still leave a repetitive result.
- Review the final mix against the video. Listen on your phone speaker and headphones, check that speech remains understandable, and inspect the beginning and ending for abrupt cuts. These are practical editorial checks, not a promise of platform approval.
- Keep a record for every upload. Store the source project, final export, prompt, edits, license terms, and a note describing what you contributed. This makes it easier to answer rights questions or correct a mistaken upload.
YouTube renamed its “repetitious content” monetization rule to the “inauthentic content” policy on July 15, 2025; the policy targets mass-produced, repetitive, or template-based uploads, not AI use by itself. On July 20, 2026, YouTube clarified guidance covering generic or repetitive content, off-putting or distressing material, and AI personas discussing sensitive topics. Checklist: Disclose Synthetic Content And Respect Consent
- Use YouTube’s altered-or-synthetic content label when required. YouTube requires disclosure for realistic altered or synthetic content, including content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance. Check the current upload flow and policy for your case; do not assume every AI-made instrumental triggers the label.
- Get consent for recognizable voices and respect platform terms. If a voice, cover, sample, or other element could be tied to a real person or another creator, secure the necessary consent and rights before using it. Check the generator’s terms and YouTube’s terms for the specific use. Tool features do not establish permission to imitate someone or reuse protected material.
- Describe the track plainly. Do not imply that a real artist performed or endorsed it if that is not true. Keep the video description accurate about how the music was made and what you contributed.
