Xiaomi teases impending launch of Redmi 12 in India

Xiaomi has sent out an enticing teaser for the upcoming launch of the Redmi 12 smartphone in the Indian market. The company shared a captivating video on Twitter, hinting at the imminent arrival of this highly anticipated device. Here’s what we know so far.

The official Twitter account of the Chinese tech giant released the teaser, featuring glimpses of an unnamed device. However, keen-eyed viewers can easily identify it as the Redmi 12. This smartphone has already been introduced in various regions worldwide, giving us insights into its potential specifications.

The device boasts a tall 6.79-inch IPS LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution, delivering a peak brightness of 550 nits and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. Powering the Redmi 12 is the MediaTek Helio G88 SoC, coupled with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. While the latter storage configuration was initially available in Thailand, it is possible that this variant will also make its way to India, as indicated by the teaser showcasing the Polar Silver option previously unveiled in Thailand.

Noteworthy features of the Redmi 12 include a 50 MP triple camera setup on the rear, accompanied by an 8 MP front-facing camera. It runs on the latest Android 13 OS with the MIUI 14 custom skin. The device incorporates a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, retains the 3.5mm headphone jack, holds an IP53 rating for water and dust resistance, and houses a substantial 5000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.
