Xiaomi pledges INR 3 Crores to fight COVID-19 in India

India is now on the list of top countries battling the latest outbreak of COVID-19. The country is hard hit with the second wave to point that curfews have been imposed in certain cities. To help the frontline workers and public, Xiaomi India has pledged INR 3 crores.

In the latest development, the brand issued a statement with Manu Kumar Jain of Global VP of Xiaomi and MD Xiaomi India, saying that Xiaomi is pledging to donate over INR 3 Crore to procure 1000+ oxygen concentrators. Amid this second COVID wave, many parts of the country have been seeing acute oxygen shortages.

As per the note, Oxygen concentrators will be donated to the hospitals and state governments wherever needed the most. The brand will also partner with GiveIndia to raise ₹1 Crore to support frontline COVID warriors across the country. To involve their fans in this initiative, the brand is also accepting donations via mi.com

This is not the first time that Xiaomi India has taken up such an initiative. Last year with the first outbreak as well, the brand had donated a number of smartphones to NGOs working with lower-income neighbourhoods to carry out Online classes for kids. Given the current situation, a lot more initiates like these are appreciated by the people.
