In January, speculations arose regarding the upcoming Xiaomi Civi 3 and its possible integration of the Dimensity 8200 chipset. This 5G system-on-a-chip (SoC), manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process, has been powering smartphones like the Redmi K60e, Vivo V27 Pro, and Vivo S16 Pro. Xiaomi has now officially confirmed that the Civi 3 will indeed feature the Dimensity 8200 Ultra chipset, a custom variant derived from the Dimensity 8200.

While Xiaomi has not disclosed specific details about this customized chip, it’s worth noting that the standard Dimensity 8200 boasts eight cores, including one Cortex-A78 core clocked up to 3.1 GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores clocked up to 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 2.0 GHz. The chipset also incorporates a Mali-G610 MC6 graphics processor and supports 5G connectivity with speeds up to 17 Gbps. Furthermore, it is compatible with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

The open architecture of Dimensity facilitates seamless integration between MediaTek’s platform and Xiaomi’s imaging capabilities. Xiaomi’s Imaging Brain, driven by advanced algorithms, has earned recognition in the industry for its prowess in areas such as portrait photography, snapshot capturing, and night scenes. To ensure smooth compatibility and efficiency, Xiaomi has developed a cross-platform intermediate layer that simplifies the adaptation of the Imaging Brain to the Dimensity mobile platform, thereby streamlining the process for future updates.

Previous reports have indicated that the upcoming Civi 3 will likely retain its predecessor’s 6.55-inch OLED display with curved edges. On the front, users can expect a dual setup of 32-megapixel selfie cameras, while the rear of the device will likely house a primary camera from Sony’s IMX800-series, renowned for its exceptional imaging capabilities.

With the inclusion of the Dimensity 8200 Ultra chipset, the Civi 3 is poised to deliver impressive performance and efficiency. The device is expected to offer ample memory options, potentially reaching up to 12 GB of RAM and featuring a generous internal storage capacity of 512 GB. Enthusiasts of fast charging will be pleased to know that the Civi 3 is rumored to support 67W fast charging, ensuring convenient and swift battery replenishment.

Adding to the excitement, a recent Weibo post has unveiled that Xiaomi plans to introduce a special edition version of the Civi 3 in collaboration with Disney, infusing the smartphone lineup with a touch of uniqueness and charm.
