Xiaomi has launched the Redmi K50i in India as was expected. It however is just the Redmi Note 11T Pro that is being rebranded and introduced in the country as the K50i. Interestingly, the phone is also sold in some markets as the Poco X4 GT. The other notable aspect of the phone is the Mediatek Dimensity 8100 chipset that makes up the core of the phone. The chipset is coupled with up to 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is no SD card slot on board though which means no provision to add more storage. The integrated LiquidCool Technology 2.0 ensures the internals are kept cool enough for optimum performance over a longer duration.
A 6.6-inch LCD panel having a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixels makes up the front. The display has a 144Hz refresh rate and is DisplayMate A+ rated, besides having support for 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, DC Dimming, and Dolby Vision. That is not all as the display is HDR10 compliant as well. Other features of the display include a 20.5:9 aspect ratio and 1400:1 contrast ratio. It has a peak brightness rating of 650 nits and has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer on top for added protection.
Coming to optics, there is the triple camera system which is the highlight of the rear. Here, you have the 64 MP primary sensor that is complemented by an 8 MP ultra wide-angle sensor and a 2 MP macro sensor. A 16 MP sensor is accommodated within the punch hole in the front display and is used for selfies and video calls.
Connectivity options you have with the phone include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and GNSS. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well while the USB Type-C port can be used for data transfer and charging purposes. There is a pair of Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers onboard as well along with an IR blaster and an x-axis linear vibration motor. The phone comes preloaded with Android 12 with the company’s MIUI 13 running on top. Power comes from a 5,080mAh battery that is backed by 67W fast charging tech.
Coming to price, the model with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage is priced at Rs. 25,999. Next comes the model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage which is priced at Rs. 28,999. Color options you have with the Redmi K50i include Quick Silver, Phantom Blue, and Stealth Black. Those opting to buy the phone using ICICI Bank cards qualify for a Rs. 3,000 cashback offer. The phone is slated to go on sale in the country from July 23 at 12 AM IST onwards and is going to be available via Amazon India, Mi.com, Croma, and MI Home stores along with other retail locations.
