We knew for a while that Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has been working on a special smartphone and it turns out it’s the company’s very first gaming smartphone.

The brand has been tight-lipped about this new product and has only let loose some of the critical specs. In a series of posters, that were shared on the company’s Weibo account. We finally got to see a glimpse of the phone and its launch date. As per the posters, the phone will be launched in the Chinese market on April 27th.

March and April have been quite busy for the brand in terms of the launches and the brand is not stopping at this point either. This new ‘Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition’ will be the company’s first gaming smartphone and as per rumors, there will be two variants of this phone available at launch. So far we know that the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensoty 1200 5G SoC and will pack 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The posters also gave out a glimpse of the phone, which slightly resembles the Redmi K40 smartphone with two physical gaming triggers present along the side side of the phone. These triggers can be remapped as per the in-game controls and can pop into the frame and out of it with the flick of a switch. There seems to be some RGB action going on as well along the rear camera module.

The company already confirmed that it will run MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out of the box. The phone will also have a 144Hz refresh rate E4 AMOLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution arguably making it one of the best displays present on a budget smartphone. As per the rumors, the phone will come at a starting price of 2,220 yuan (INR 25,900).
