Xiaomi and its sub-brands are not leaving older devices on the buggy MIUI 12 builds. The latest device to get the new MIUI 12.5 update is the Redmi 8A.
The phone was launched two years back with Android 9 and MIUI 10, since then it has gained the Android 10 update alongside MIUI versions. Now the brand has started pushing the latest MIUI build to users in India. MIUI 12.5 has been stable so far on other smartphones and has more or less eliminated most of the MIUI 12 shortcomings. The OTA has started hitting the phones and should be gradually rolling out to users over the course of the next few weeks.
Just for a refresher, the Redmi 8A comes with a polycarbonate build with an HD+ LCD panel upfront. Under the hood, the phone rocks the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC along with either 2GB or 3GB RAM.
Moving to the optics, we get a dual-camera module on the back which performs decently for the price, and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. To juice all this up, the brand has supplied the phone with a 5,000mAh battery which is enough to pull you through 2 full days.
