Redmi 12C spotted on BIS certification site, India launch imminent

It has just been a few months since the Redmi 12C smartphone was launched in China and there already are rumors of the phone slated for a global launch sometime soon. Fuelling such rumors is the recent sighting of the affordable smartphone in the BIS and NBTC certification sites which is a clear pointer of the phone is likely to launch in countries like Thailand and India in the coming weeks or months.

The NBTC site identifies the Redmi 12C with the model number 22120RN86G but does not provide any other information. The BIS listing also mentions the exact same model number though here too, there is no specifications or features of the phone included. That said, we do know what the phone is going to be like thanks to it being already available in China.

As such, it is already known the phone carries a 6.71-inch LCD display having 1650 x 720 pixels HD+ resolution. The display has a peak brightness rating of 500 nits and carries a notch that accommodates the 5 MP front-facing camera. On the rear lies a dual camera setup which comprises of a 50 MP primary sensor along with a depth sensor. The rear also features a fingerprint sensor as well for security. Power comes from a 5,000 mAh battery backed by a 10W charger.

Under the hood lies a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC that is paired with LPDDR4x RAM along with eMMC 5.1 storage. Then there also is a microSD card reader as well that will let you add more storage. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band Wi-Fi, and GNSS. There is a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well along with a micro USB port for charging and data transfer roles. The phone runs MIUI 13 which could be based on Android 13.
