After its recent global launch, the Redmi 12 is now set to make its way to the Indian market on August 1. While the Indian variant of the Redmi 12 will be a 4G smartphone powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, a recent leak suggests that a 5G variant of the Redmi 12 is also on the horizon for the global market.

The Redmi 12 5G variant has surfaced on Geekbench, unveiling some of its key specifications. According to the listing, the device bears the model number 23076RN4BI and boasts a 2.2GHz octa-core processor with an Adreno 613 GPU. This processor is highly likely to be the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 5G chipset. Impressively, the Redmi 12 5G displayed strong performance in the Geekbench scores, achieving a single-core score of 916 and a multi-core score of 2,106.

The listing also confirms that the smartphone will come with 8 GB of RAM and will run on the Android 13-based operating system. While the listing did not provide any other information, it is speculated that this may be a rebrand of the Redmi Note 12R, which was launched in China back in April. Earlier rumors indicated that the Redmi Note 12R would be launched as the Redmi 12 5G in the global market and as the Poco M5 5G in India.

Of particular interest is that this model has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, indicating that it is likely the Indian variant of the Redmi 12 5G. This suggests that both Xiaomi sub-brands, Poco and Redmi, are gearing up to launch the rebranded Redmi Note 12R as the Poco M6 Pro 5G and Redmi 12 5G, respectively, in the Indian market.

For an idea of what to expect from these rebranded devices, the Redmi Note 12R boasts a 6.79-inch LCD Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset with 5G connectivity, offering up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The phone features a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor at the rear, along with a 5 MP front camera. Running on Android 13 with MIUI 14, it is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging support.

With the imminent arrival of the Redmi 12 5G in India, consumers can look forward to a powerful and feature-rich smartphone experience, thanks to the advanced Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC and 5G connectivity.
