For instance, if the song is about taking the last train home after an argument, the first verse might establish the station and the silence, the chorus could carry the line “I still save you a seat,” and the second verse could show what the singer has decided. Use concrete details in the verses—an empty platform, a phone lighting up, a coat left behind—instead of explaining the emotion in every line. Details give the chorus something specific to resolve.
