Make the track as an instrumental first: generate a swung breakbeat, add a restrained sub-bass pattern, then introduce tape-like imperfection with subtle filtering, noise and arrangement changes. On a Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO phone, use an Android-supported tool such as Soundverse AI Beat Maker or Suno, or work in your mobile browser with Beat Shaper, InsMelo AI Beat Maker or Drumloop AI. Keep the first version sparse, export editable parts where available, and finish the balance with headphones at low volume.
What Lo-Fi Drum And Bass Needs
Lo-fi drum and bass still needs the forward motion of drum and bass, but its surface is worn, soft and imperfect. Start around 160–180 BPM, then adjust by ear. Use a two-step kick-and-snare pattern with ghost notes, a short sub-bass phrase that leaves room for the kick, and a small number of musical layers. Lo-fi character comes from restrained high frequencies, uneven velocity, filtered breaks, tape-style noise, short room ambience and occasional dropouts.

- Drums: Ask for a shuffled or lightly swung break, a firm snare on the backbeat, and ghost hits that do not crowd the kick.
- Bass: Request a clean sub pattern with pauses. A simple two- or four-bar phrase is easier to control than a busy bassline.
- Harmony: Minor seventh chords, electric-piano fragments and dusty pads can supply atmosphere without competing with the rhythm.
- Arrangement: Use an intro, a first drop, a short breakdown and a second drop with one changed drum or bass element.

Genre-specific lo-fi drum-and-bass presets are not established for every tool above. Treat the prompt and controls as a starting point, then listen for the actual break, bass movement and texture before keeping a result.
Build The Track Step By Step
- Write a precise brief. Use a prompt such as: “Instrumental lo-fi drum and bass, 174 BPM, swung two-step break, dusty snare, restrained sub-bass, minor electric-piano chords, filtered intro, 16-bar drop, short breakdown, second drop with a busier ghost-note pattern, no vocals.” Add “leave space between kick and sub” if the low end is crowded.
- Generate the first rhythm. In Soundverse, request a complete instrumental and inspect the drum, bass and arrangement result. In Beat Shaper, use its genre, mood, energy and syncopation controls, then edit the piano roll. In InsMelo, set BPM and structure explicitly before generating. Make several short candidates rather than accepting the first full arrangement.
- Shape a usable break. If the generated drums are too clean, use Drumloop AI with a prompt such as “dusty chopped break, loose ghost notes, soft transient, 174 BPM.” Its interactive sequencer allows manual edits. If you already have a break recording, CedarGrooveNET can transcribe WAV, MP3, AIFF or FLAC into Standard MIDI and continue the pattern; it does not export audio stems.
- Keep the bass simple. Ask for a sub-bass line that follows the kick gaps and repeats a short motif. If the bass masks the snare, shorten the notes or remove one hit every four bars. Export MIDI or stems when your selected plan provides them so you can edit the bass separately.
- Add the lo-fi surface. Filter some high end from the break, lower a few hit velocities, and place very quiet noise or room ambience behind the groove. Use brief dropouts at the end of eight- or 16-bar phrases. These are arrangement decisions you make after generation; the listed tools do not establish a dedicated lo-fi effect preset.
- Arrange the energy. Build an eight- or 16-bar filtered intro, a 16-bar first drop, an eight-bar breakdown and a second drop. Change one element in the second drop, such as an extra ghost-note fill or a longer bass note, while leaving the main groove recognisable.
- Check on the phone. On your Xiaomi, compare the mix through wired or Bluetooth headphones and the phone speaker. Keep the sub audible but controlled, and reduce harsh hats if they dominate at low volume. Save versioned exports so you can return to the last balanced arrangement.
- Export the right file. Choose WAV, stems or MIDI when your plan supports them and you expect further editing. MP3 is convenient for sharing a sketch. Beat Shaper Starter downloads are limited to MP3 and non-commercial use, while Soundverse Creator and Pro list commercial licenses; verify the current terms before publishing.

Rights And Uploads To Check Before Publishing
Do not assume a free generation is cleared for commercial release. Soundverse lists commercial licenses on Creator and Pro; Beat Shaper Starter is non-commercial while Creator lists commercial usage rights; InsMelo says commercial rights depend on its subscription or license terms; Soundful licensing varies by plan. For any uploaded break, reference recording, voice or voice clone, obtain the necessary consent and check the platform’s current terms. Keep a copy of the plan and license information attached to each exported version.

- The kick and sub do not play full strength at the same moment.
- The snare remains clear after you lower the high end.
- The groove still moves when pads and effects are muted.
- The second drop has one deliberate change rather than many new layers.
- Your export format and usage rights match where you intend to share the track.
