Before you make or publish an AI song cover, identify the song and recording you want to use, get permission for your intended use, and check the cover tool’s terms. A voice swap or a paid plan does not itself establish that you have permission to use the underlying song or recording. If you cannot confirm the permissions you need, keep the cover private and do not distribute it.
Step 1: Identify What You Want To Cover
Write down the song title, songwriter or credited artists, and the specific recording you plan to upload or reference. A cover generator can change the vocal while preserving a song’s melody or instrumentals; that workflow does not tell you who controls the rights or grant permission.

On a Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone, keep the source audio, any permission records, and the finished export in clearly named folders in Files. Save the source separately so you can identify which recording you used. Do not assume that a YouTube link, a voice model, or an AI-generated vocal makes the song cleared for release.
Step 2: Ask Before You Upload Or Publish
- Contact the relevant rights holders or their representatives and describe the exact song and recording, how you plan to make the cover, and where you want to share it.
- Ask whether your intended use is allowed, including whether you may upload the source to the cover service and whether you may distribute or monetize the result.
- Keep the written response and any license terms with your project files. If the permission is unclear, ask for clarification before uploading or sharing.
- Check the cover service’s terms for voice consent, uploads, and commercial use. A service’s terms and a rights holder’s permission address different parts of your workflow; do not treat one as a substitute for the other.
Get consent for any real person’s voice you clone or imitate. Spotify has said vocal impersonation is allowed on its service only when the impersonated artist has authorized it; it also announced an AI Persona badge for artist identities that may be AI-generated rather than real people. Step 3: Choose A Cover Tool And Check Its Terms
These options list song-cover or voice-replacement workflows. Their listed features do not establish that a particular song is cleared, and the stated plan terms do not replace permission from rights holders. Confirm current terms with the provider before uploading or using an export.

Step 4: Make The Cover With A Permission-Safe Workflow
- Use a source recording only after checking that your permission covers uploading it to the chosen service. Keep a clean copy of the original on your phone.
- Choose a voice you are authorized to use. If you upload a voice sample for cloning or training, get the speaker’s consent and check the provider’s rules for that sample.
- Set the voice, pitch, or key controls the selected tool actually lists. For example, Singify lists solo, duet, and chorus modes with pitch and key controls; HitPaw lists pitch and similarity controls. Do not assume a tool supports a particular genre, language, or musical style unless its current product information says so.
- Preview the result where the service offers previews, then export in a format it lists. Keep the export and the related permission records together.
Step 5: Check The Finished File And Destination
- Listen through the full export and confirm it is the cover you intended to make.
- Before posting, confirm your permission covers the destination and use, and review that platform’s current upload and AI disclosure rules. Spotify says it supports DDEX AI disclosures in credits; that does not establish a universal disclosure rule for other platforms.
- Keep the permission record, source details, tool name, and final export together in your phone’s project folder. If a distributor or platform asks for documentation, use the records you received rather than assuming the tool’s subscription is proof of clearance.
