Veto
Veto checks AI-agent tool calls before execution and returns an allow, deny or approval-required verdict.
What Veto is
Veto checks AI-agent tool calls before execution and returns an allow, deny or approval-required verdict. Policies can permit safe actions, pause risky actions for approval and block forbidden ones. Decision records can include the actor, tenant, tool, policy and approver. Listed integrations include OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Amazon Bedrock, Cohere, Groq, Mistral, Together AI, LangChain, LangGraph, MCP and Playwright. TypeScript is the production SDK path, while Python is a preview package for local checks. Veto says its Apache-2.0 SDK and policy engine can run locally, and cached policy can keep critical enforcement operating if its cloud is unreachable. Customer payloads, policies and decision records are processed to provide the service and are not used to train models. The Developer plan is free with 5,000 action checks and seven days of records. Hosted costs $299 a month; Enterprise pricing is custom.
Good
- Allow, deny and approval-required decisions
- Detailed records for governed tool calls
- Broad model and framework integrations
- Local Apache-2.0 engine option
- Offline cached-policy enforcement path
Watch out
- Python SDK is still a preview package
- Developer plan has a hard usage cap
- Hosted plan costs $299 a month
- Enterprise pricing is custom
Who it suits
It is aimed especially at startups and vendors putting AI agents into workflows where customers require policy, approvals and evidence. Teams can choose hosted, local or enterprise deployment paths.
Verdict
Veto adds policy gates and approval records around AI-agent tool use. Its local engine, integrations and tiered plans support different deployment requirements.
