What SecureRedact (RedactPDF.dev) is
SecureRedact is a browser-based tool for hiding sensitive content in standard PDFs with selectable text. Users can draw boxes over material to redact or have it detect SSNs, email addresses, and names. Rather than simply covering text, it removes text operators in selected regions, adjusts or strips glyph-position data, and rasterizes those areas. Its audit checks for recoverable text, glyph positions, metadata, and earlier revisions; downloads are blocked if anything remains recoverable. It also removes XMP and Info metadata, embedded JavaScript, and thumbnails, and collapses incremental-update history. Files are processed in the browser, not uploaded to a server. Once the page has loaded, redaction runs there; the optional name-detection model downloads once and is cached. The engine and audit are open source. SecureRedact is available on the web with a free plan listed as free, with no accounts, watermarks, or limits. Encrypted PDFs and scanned image-only PDFs are not supported in this version, and OCR redaction is unavailable.

Who it suits
It suits people who need to redact selectable-text PDFs in a browser, with manual or automatic detection and a recovery check. It is not suited to encrypted or scanned image-only PDFs, or to OCR-based redaction.
Verdict
SecureRedact combines content removal with a recovery audit, while keeping PDF processing in the browser. Its support is limited to standard PDFs with selectable text, without OCR redaction.
