What Matterfield is

Matterfield is a web-based library of scanned real-world 3D assets for VFX, computer vision and video game developers. Its catalog includes models, textures, HDRIs and software tools, with listed download formats including FBX, PNG, EXR and HIP (ZIP). The company says it creates 3D and 2D content using 3D scanning and other production workflows. Its free No Sponsorship plan includes common models and textures, collections, a blog and a knowledgebase. Friend costs $10 a month and includes all 3D models and textures. Partner is $25 a month and adds HDRIs, software, scripts, tools and asset sponsorship. Benefactor is $75 a month and adds high-poly source data and revision and variation requests; it is required for companies with revenue over $100k. Downloads are unlimited with the required subscription, but individual asset purchases are unavailable. Commercial use is allowed, although assets cannot be resold on other websites or used for AI training without an agreement with Matterfield. A Houdini toolset page says its UV proxy output can be unwrapped in RizomUV or Blender. Matterfield was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina.
