Cutaway

What Cutaway is

Cutaway is a free web tool that removes image backgrounds using AI that runs on the user's device. It accepts PNG, JPG, WEBP, and HEIC/HEIF files, including batches and clipboard pastes. After removal, users can leave the background transparent, add a solid color or their own backdrop, or blur the original scene. Editing controls include edge cleanup, feathering, sensitivity adjustments, and manual erase and restore touch-ups. Canvas presets include Amazon 2000×2000 white, square, portrait, and story formats, with drop and ground shadows. Exports are available in PNG, JPG, or WEBP at original resolution; batches can be downloaded as ZIP files. The Free plan costs nothing and includes unlimited images, full resolution, batch processing, no watermark, commercial use, and no account. The maker says images are processed in browser memory and are not transmitted to its servers or third parties by the tool. After the initial AI setup is cached, Cutaway says it can work offline; the first setup usually takes 30–90 seconds on Wi-Fi. The launch version has no accounts, subscriptions, feature paywalls, or payment step.
