Credibled is a background-screening platform for organizations that want to automate reference checks and other candidate verifications. Its per-candidate pricing and ATS connections suit staffing agencies and employers that need reference outreach without taking on a monthly subscription. It is less suitable when Québec social-media screening or current SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certification is required.

Key features

Candidates submit their own references, after which Credibled sends outreach and reminders every 24 hours for up to 10 days. That follow-up can reduce manual chasing, while the 10-day window gives employers a defined endpoint rather than an open-ended process.

Employers can build questionnaires around an industry, job title, or competencies, using text and rating questions. Professional email validation and same-IP flags for candidates and referees add fraud signals, though these are screening cues rather than a substitute for an employer’s review.

Completed references can be exported as PDFs and emailed to employers. Referee questionnaires can also collect leads for potential job seekers and clients, with email notifications to the requester. That may help staffing firms turn a reference interaction into a business-development opportunity, but is less central for employers seeking only hiring checks.

Integrations include Bullhorn, JobAdder, and Vincere. The API supports custom hiring workflows, status-change webhooks, and separate sandbox and production keys. The free sandbox lets teams work with documentation and test without running real checks or incurring charges; it is not a free production-check allowance.

Production data is hosted in AWS’s Canada Central region and encrypted in transit and at rest. Credibled says it operates under Canadian privacy law, principally PIPEDA and applicable provincial law, and follows FCRA-consistent practices for US checks. It is not currently SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 certified and says it is working toward SOC 2. Organizations that require either certification should consider another provider until that changes.

Every account has a dedicated representative, with same-day replies during business hours, as well as a Help Centre, monitored support channel, and live chat. Social-media screening is unavailable in Québec, an important limitation for employers with screening requirements there.

Pricing

Credibled is paid for real checks, with a free account for API testing. The API sandbox costs nothing and includes documentation and a sandbox key; it does not run real checks or incur charges. It is useful for evaluating a custom integration before committing to paid checks.

Automated reference check costs C$9, paid once, billed per candidate, and covers all references completed for that candidate. There is no subscription, monthly fee, or minimum commitment, which makes the price straightforward for occasional or variable hiring. The trade-off is that the stated price is per candidate, not a recurring plan for unlimited screening.

Eligible non-profits can use NGO reference check at C$4.50, paid once, billed per check. The NGO Program applies a 50% discount to reference checks, making this the lower-cost route for qualifying organizations. Automated reference check is the general per-candidate option; the two billing bases should be considered when estimating costs across multiple references.
