bgbgone is free macOS software that removes image backgrounds locally using Apple Vision and Core Image. Processing runs on-device, with no cloud service required. It supports batch work, background replacement with solid colours or images, and algorithms named auto, vn-mask, person, and saliency. Controls include edge feathering, thresholding, cropping, padding, scaling, positioning, and shadows. Exports can be PNG, JPG, ZIP, HEIC, AVIF, or TIFF, and commercial use is permitted. The project includes a native folder-processing app plus command-line and local-server usage. Its local HTTP API can run at 127.0.0.1:8787 with CORS, bearer-token authentication, and request-size limits. The maker says there are no network calls or telemetry and no account is required.
