Atlas Studio
Atlas Studio is a free, open-source plugin for making procedural terrain inside Roblox Studio.
What Atlas Studio is
Atlas Studio is a free, open-source plugin for making procedural terrain inside Roblox Studio. Its visual node graph supports a workflow from terrain generation through shaping, weathering, and material assignment to building native smooth terrain. The node reference covers 56 nodes for generators, terrain shaping, erosion, materials, and output, with filters for name, port type, or palette availability. During editing, you can preview height, material, and slope, or switch on an optional 3D mesh preview. Paint Mask nodes open a dockable canvas for making localized edits to those views. Built-in recipes include Temperate Forest, Rolling Grassland, Rocky Highlands, and Island / Coast. Projects saved with a Roblox place retain the graph, bounds, seed, preview resolution, masks, environment settings, and build history for reuse. A build clears all of Workspace.Terrain, then writes terrain in chunks on Roblox’s 4-stud voxel grid; empty voxels below the water plane are filled with water. Preview resolution changes interactive previews, not final build resolution. Large regions take longer and require more memory.
Good
- Free and open source.
- 56 documented nodes with filters.
- Previews height, material, and slope.
- Projects save with the Roblox place.
- Includes four built-in terrain recipes.
Watch out
- Building clears all of Workspace.Terrain.
- Large build regions take longer and need more memory.
- Materials use Roblox terrain materials, not custom textures.
- Roads, structures, and vegetation are outside its scope.
Who it suits
Atlas Studio suits Roblox Studio creators who want a reusable, node-based workflow for procedural terrain and art-directed local edits. It is not intended for placing roads, structures, landmarks, models, or vegetation.
Verdict
Atlas Studio combines procedural terrain tools, previews, and reusable projects within Roblox Studio. Before building, account for its Workspace.Terrain clearing behavior and its limited scope for placing other scene elements.

- Atlas writes terrain in chunks and fills empty voxels below the water plane with water; parts, models, roads, and vegetation are outside the build output.checked 9 Oct 2026
- Build resolution
- Final terrain builds use Roblox's 4-stud terrain voxel grid; preview resolution affects interactive previews only.checked 9 Oct 2026
