It was late last year that Xiaomi had launched the 13 series flagship phone though its availability was confined to only within China. Ahead of the upcoming MWC 2023, the company decided to expand its reach by launching the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro globally. However, with the series limited to only two high-end models at the moment, rumor has it that Xiaomi is planning to unveil a new Ultra version later in the year. While there is nothing definitive known about the launch schedule right now, it likely is going to happen around May or June. While it is true the company hasn’t made any official statements regarding the launch, the speculations surrounding the Xiaomi 13 Ultra keep growing.
Take for instance the tipster by the name Yogesh Brar who has disclosed some of the purported features and specifications of Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Brar’s leaks suggest that the upcoming device could feature an improved camera setup, among other enhancements. As of now, little else is known about the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, but rumors and speculations continue to surface as the launch date draws nearer.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is expected to hit the market as the company’s top-of-the-line device in 2023. The phone’s specifications have already been leaked ahead of its launch, revealing that it will come packed with top-of-the-line hardware, as expected. One of the most significant details revealed by the leaks is that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is also used in the other two Xiaomi 13 series phones, namely the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro 5G.
Rumors suggest that the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone will feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a QHD+ resolution and curved edges. It will likely have a hole-punch cutout at the top center for the front camera, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The LTPO display will refresh anywhere between 1Hz and 120Hz.
According to recent leaks, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra’s rear camera setup will consist of four 50 MP sensors, including a primary camera with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. Additionally, the camera array is rumored to include an ultra-wide and two telephoto lenses, with one offering a longer zoom range. The front camera is expected to be a 32 MP sensor for selfies, and the rear camera system will be Leica-tuned, offering various portrait modes and photography styles similar to the Xiaomi 13 Pro.
According to insider Yogesh Brar’s revelations, the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone will not feature a 1TB storage option. However, it will pack impressive hardware, including up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. The base model is expected to offer 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, while the highest tier model will offer 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
The phone will come with Android 13 pre-installed and will be layered with MIUI 14. The device is expected to house a 4900mAh battery with support for 90W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
