As we reported earlier, the new OTA that Mi A3 received caused bricking issues for some users. As a precautionary measure the company did pull the update back but the damage was done in the meantime.
Hundreds of Mi A3 users took to Twitter to complain about the bricking issue and the further trauma they went through after visiting the brands’ service centres. Users that visited the service centres were issued job sheets with damages amounting to INR 8,000 for motherboard replacement.
Now the company has announced that they will be offering Free repairs to the affected users. According to the company’s post on the Xiaomi global community the new build V12.0.3.0.RFQMIXM will be installed to fix the issue.
Here’s the official statement from the brand :
We are aware of the issue on some Mi A3 devices following a recent Android 11 update. We have since halted the rollout. We kindly request users who experience this issue to visit any of the 2,000 plus service centres across the country nearer to you wherein a solution will be provided for free unconditionally (within or beyond warranty).
We regret the inconvenience this has brought about. As a brand committed to offering the best possible user experience, we will continuously improve our products and services.
