The simplest way to launch a new podcast on Spotify is to host it with Spotify for Creators: create the show, record and edit your episode in a separate app, upload the finished file, add artwork and metadata, verify your account, and publish. Spotify-hosted shows appear on Spotify automatically. If your podcast already uses another host, keep that host and submit or claim its RSS feed instead; moving is not required.
- Open Spotify for Creators and choose Add a new show.
- Select Create a new show, then prepare an MP3, M4A or WAV episode and cover art.
- Upload through New episode → Select a file, complete the checks and publish.
- Enable RSS distribution if you want Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and other apps.

What do you need before starting?
You need a Spotify account, a show name, a short description, cover art, at least one finished episode and access to the email address used for verification. Record and edit with a separate application because Spotify’s own recording tools are no longer available. You also need permission for every voice, music track, image and other element in the episode. Spotify says uploading audio that belongs to someone else violates its Terms of Service.

Host with Spotify for Creators
A new show hosted there is published to Spotify automatically. You also get Spotify analytics and creator features such as comments, polls, trailers, previews, transcripts and chapters. The trade-offs are that RSS distribution must be enabled deliberately, the account email becomes public in that feed, and some monetization features depend on country and eligibility.
Keep another host
Your host’s RSS feed remains the distribution source containing episode titles, descriptions, media links and artwork. Spotify can list that show without becoming the host. This preserves existing distribution relationships and host-specific analytics, but Spotify-native features and monetization may be more limited.
How do you create a new podcast on Spotify?
- Go to creators.spotify.com and sign in with a Spotify account.
- Select your avatar, then choose Add a new show. On mobile, open the menu first if the avatar menu is not visible.
- Choose Create a new show for a brand-new podcast. This option supports audio, video or both.
- Enter the show details and save them before uploading your first episode.
If the show already exists elsewhere, choose Find an existing show instead. Creating a second listing can produce duplicates; use the RSS feed to submit an unlisted show or claim an existing Spotify page.
How should you record and edit the first episode?
Record in the quietest practical room, preserve the original take, remove long silences and obvious mistakes, then export a supported file. Spotify points creators to a phone, tablet or computer recorder for basic capture; Riverside for remote multitrack audio or video; and Descript, GarageBand, Audacity, Adobe Audition, Pro Tools or Ferrite for editing. For video, Spotify lists iMovie, Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve.
- Capture: Place the microphone close enough for a consistent voice level and record a short test before the full conversation.
- Organize: Save the untouched recording and label each participant’s track if your recorder provides separate tracks.
- Edit: Remove distracting errors and excessive silence. Add an intro or outro only when it improves the listener’s experience.
- Export: Use MP3, M4A or WAV for audio. Keep video exports in MP4, MOV or MPG when your workflow requires them.
- Check locally: Play the complete export from beginning to end before uploading.
Which tools are best for building a Spotify podcast?
The following tools are ranked by how well they fit common beginner workflows, not by test results. Spotify’s recording guidance identifies them as compatible choices; select the simplest tool that covers your format and collaboration needs.
1. Spotify for Creators: the simplest host for a new show
What it does: Creates and hosts audio or video podcasts, publishes hosted episodes to Spotify, provides analytics and enables Spotify creator features.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteStandout features: One account handles show setup, uploading, scheduling, comments, polls, trailers, previews, transcripts and chapters. Its RSS feed can be enabled for submissions to other services.
Platforms: Web and mobile app.
Price and limits: The cited Spotify setup documentation does not state a current creator-hosting dollar price. RSS must be enabled for outside distribution, and enabling it exposes the account email address publicly in the feed. Spotify’s own recording and editing tools are no longer available.
2. Riverside: remote multitrack audio or video
What it does: Records remote guests in multitrack audio or video and can feed finished media into a Spotify publishing workflow.
Standout features: Separate tracks are useful when guests have different volume or background-noise problems, while video capture supports a video-podcast workflow.

3. Audacity: capable desktop editing without a subscription requirement
What it does: Edits recorded audio, including trimming, cleanup and export for podcast upload.

Standout features: It is a free desktop editor suited to cutting spoken-word recordings and exporting a supported file.
Platforms: Windows, macOS and Linux.
Price and limits: Spotify identifies Audacity as a free editing option. It does not provide remote guest capture or an integrated Spotify publishing control panel.
4. GarageBand: accessible Apple-device production
What it does: Records and edits multitrack audio on Apple devices.
Standout features: It suits a solo host or small production that wants a familiar timeline, music beds and voice tracks before exporting an episode.
Platforms: Mac, iPhone and iPad.
Price and limits: The cited Spotify guidance does not state a current price. It is a poor fit for a Windows-first workflow or browser-based team editing.
5. Descript: transcript-based editing and remote recording
What it does: Records remote sessions and lets creators edit spoken content through a transcript-oriented workflow.
Standout features: Text-based editing can make it easier to remove words or sections from a conversation without working exclusively on a waveform.
Platforms: Desktop and web workflows.
Price and limits: Spotify’s recording page does not state current plan prices. Its transcript-focused approach is unnecessary if you only need a quick trim of a clean local MP3.
6. Adobe Audition: detailed audio production
What it does: Provides advanced editing and cleanup for podcast audio.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Standout features: It is suited to creators who need deeper control over multitrack sessions, noise treatment and detailed exports.
Platforms: Windows and macOS.
Price and limits: The Spotify source does not list a current price. Its broader feature set can add learning time for a first-time solo host.
7. Pro Tools: professional studio workflows
What it does: Handles full-featured multitrack audio production for complex shows and studio teams.
Standout features: Extensive track, editing and mixing controls suit productions with multiple microphones, music cues and repeatable studio templates.

What it does: Records and edits spoken-word audio on Apple mobile devices.
Standout features: It supports a phone- or tablet-centered workflow when a creator does not want to move recordings to a desktop.
Platforms: iPhone and iPad.
Price and limits: Spotify’s cited page does not state a current price. It is not a fit for Windows or Android-centered production.

How we picked
The order favors the shortest path to a compliant Spotify upload, then remote recording, simple editing, advanced audio production and video capability. Every tool listed is identified in Spotify’s current recording guidance; the limits reflect the workflow each category requires.
How do you upload and publish an episode?
On the web
- Select New episode.
- Choose Select a file to upload your audio file.
- Wait while Spotify processes the file.
- Enter the episode title and description.
- Complete the content checks and mark explicit material accurately.
- Add season and episode numbers when they apply.
- Add episode artwork if you want artwork distinct from the show cover.
- Choose Now or Schedule under Publish date.
- Publish immediately or save the episode as a draft.
In the mobile app
- Tap Podcast.
- Tap +.
- Tap Select a file.
- Complete the episode details, content checks and publishing options.
Account verification is required before publishing the first video or episode. Spotify says there is no file-size limit, but larger files take longer to process and are more vulnerable to interrupted uploads. Keep embedded MP3 metadata and artwork reasonably small.
How do you add podcast artwork?
- Web: Open Settings → Update show art → Upload an image.
- Mobile: Open Podcast → Edit Details, tap the show’s cover art, choose an image and tap Save.
Spotify says artwork changes typically appear within 24 hours. Use one clear subject, strong contrast and large type; intricate text disappears at thumbnail size.

- Positionable design: Pivot the mic in relation to the sound source to optimize your sound quality thanks to the adjustable desktop stand and track your voice in real time with no-latency monitoring
How do you get the podcast on Apple Podcasts and other apps?
Spotify-hosted shows appear on Spotify automatically, but Spotify does not submit them everywhere for you. Enable the RSS feed, then submit that feed separately to each service.
- Sign in at creators.spotify.com.
- Open Settings → Availability.
- Scroll to RSS Distribution.
- Enable or copy the feed.
- Submit it to services such as Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Castbox, Goodpods, iHeartRadio, Overcast, Pocket Casts and RadioPublic.
The RSS section appears only after the first episode has been published. Enabling it makes the account email address public to anyone with the feed link. Third-party services may scrape a public feed and create listings you did not submit.
Many platforms process a submission within a few hours, while some manually review shows. Spotify advises allowing up to 24 hours for many new or updated episodes. Video episodes distributed to other platforms generally become audio-only. Music-and-talk episodes containing songs from Spotify’s catalog are available only to Spotify listeners.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How do you submit or claim an existing podcast?
Choose Find an existing show instead of creating a new one. Provide the show’s RSS feed when prompted. If the show is already listed, claiming it links the listing to your Spotify for Creators account and unlocks creator functions such as analytics, comments, polls, trailers, previews, transcripts and chapters. If it is not listed, the same path can submit it using the RSS feed.
How do you promote a new Spotify podcast?
Publishing makes an episode available; it does not create an audience automatically. Spotify recommends a focused show description, direct links and consistent promotion.
- Ask listeners to follow the show. Spotify says followers automatically save new episodes to their libraries and may see the show in personalized sections of the app.
- Share the show page and individual episode links in social profiles, newsletters and communities where the subject is relevant.
- Embed the Spotify player on a website or project page.
- Create playlists that place related episodes in a useful listening order.
- Use show notes to explain the episode and give listeners a reason to continue.
- Consider Spotify Advertising only after you have a clear audience, conversion goal and budget.
Can you make money from a Spotify podcast?
Yes, but Spotify-native monetization is conditional and country-dependent. Hosting on Spotify for Creators is required for the Partner Program and Spotify Subscriptions; neither is an automatic benefit of publishing your first episode.
Spotify Partner Program
For creators with a legal address in the United States, Spotify’s current support documentation lists these requirements: the show must be hosted on Spotify for Creators, have at least three published episodes, reach at least 2,000 global consumption hours on Spotify in the previous 30 days and reach at least 1,000 unique listeners or viewers on Spotify in the previous 30 days. Spotify says the program can provide ad revenue and premium video revenue in selected markets.
Spotify describes a 50% share of revenue recognized when a Spotify-monetized ad plays, and at least one ad break must be inserted in an episode to earn ad revenue. The show must follow monetization policies, publish an episode and earn at least $10 during each six-month period to remain eligible. Approved creators must complete payout setup. Two-step verification is required after earnings reach $1,000 or more in one month; Spotify says payouts can be held if it is not activated within 30 days of that threshold.
Spotify Subscriptions
Spotify’s current subscription guidance lists at least two published episodes, at least 100 Spotify listeners in the previous 30 days, Spotify for Creators hosting, and creator and audience locations in an available market. On the web, open Monetize → Subscriptions → Get Started, choose the content type, connect Stripe, set a monthly price, select included episodes and mark future episodes as Subscription only when publishing. Spotify says creators keep 100% of subscription earnings excluding payment-processing fees.
Country and eligibility changes
Spotify’s marketing page and country-specific support pages do not present identical market lists, and Spotify says eligibility can change. Open Monetize in your own Spotify for Creators account and use the status shown for your country instead of relying on a permanent worldwide list.
Other revenue options
Advertising sold directly to sponsors, listener-supported memberships and paid communities can work independently of Spotify’s Partner Program. Spotify identifies Patreon, Substack and Supporting Cast as examples of external membership services. They add another account, fee structure and authentication step, so a new show should first establish a clear member benefit and an engaged audience.

The RSS option is missing
Spotify does not show the RSS section until the first episode has been published. Publish at least one episode, then return to Settings → Availability.
An episode contains copyrighted music
Remove material you do not have rights to use, or obtain the appropriate license before publishing. A track being playable in Spotify’s catalog does not by itself grant podcast synchronization rights.

- Remote interviews: Capture separate tracks in Riverside, edit in Descript or an audio editor, then upload the export.
- Apple-mobile workflow: Record and edit in Ferrite, then upload from the Spotify app or web.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate podcast host to appear on Spotify?
No. Spotify for Creators can host a new show and publish it to Spotify automatically. A separate host is needed only when you choose to keep an independent RSS workflow or already have one.
Can I publish a paid subscription before joining the Partner Program?
Spotify presents subscriptions and the Partner Program as separate products with separate requirements. Subscriptions use the two-episode and 100-listener criteria, while the Partner Program uses higher consumption and audience thresholds.
Will a video podcast stay video on every app?
No. Spotify says a video episode distributed to other platforms generally becomes audio-only. Spotify is the destination to prioritize when the visual portion is essential.

Is Spotify for Creators free?
Spotify’s current creator setup pages do not state a dollar price for hosting. Sign in at Spotify for Creators to see the terms presented for your account and country.
Can I move the show to another host later?
You can keep the show listed on Spotify while changing the service that supplies its RSS feed, but plan the move around feed ownership and redirects before switching. Preserve the existing show identity and feed information so directories can continue matching the same podcast rather than creating a new listing.
