Overview

Qualaroo is a customer-feedback platform for teams that want to ask questions in websites and apps and interpret responses alongside user behavior. It suits product and conversion teams that need contextual surveys plus analysis of written feedback; it is a weaker fit if encrypted response storage is a requirement.

Founded as KISSinsights in 2010, the company was acquired by ProProfs in February 2020 and is based in Santa Monica, California. Explore Customer Feedback Software, Survey Software, or Survey API Software for related categories.

Key features

Its in-app surveys, called Nudges, can be targeted and triggered in context, with branching logic, branding, more than 10 question types, and support for 100+ languages. This range helps teams adapt questions to a particular page or app moment rather than rely only on generic surveys. NPS surveys are supported, too.

Heatmaps and session recordings show clicks, scrolling, and drop-off alongside feedback, giving product teams behavioral context for investigating friction or conversion problems. IBM Watson sentiment analysis, word clouds, and reporting help make open-text answers easier to interpret, though teams with large volumes of free-text feedback should weigh those tools against their own analysis needs.

For mobile feedback, Qualaroo offers iOS and Android SDKs. Listed integrations include Salesforce, Tableau, Intercom, Zapier, Slack, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, and webhooks. Enterprise adds roles and permissions, organization-wide collaboration, SAML SSO, and an API with callbacks and webhooks, which makes that tier the relevant option for organizations needing access controls and broader collaboration.

Qualaroo says customer data and its dashboard are hosted on AWS EC2 in Virginia, dashboard access uses HTTPS, and passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Survey responses are not encrypted in storage; access is restricted using AWS Security Groups. That storage limitation matters for teams whose security requirements call for encrypted responses.

Pricing

The free plan costs $0.00 USD per free and allows 50 responses, 500 email sends, and 10k pageviews. It is useful for a small evaluation or low-volume feedback program, but the response cap makes it unsuitable for sustained high-volume use.

Essentials costs 39.99 USD per month, billed monthly, for 1,000 email sends/month and unlimited responses. It removes the free plan’s response ceiling, but does not include a published pageview quota in its plan details. Business costs 99.99 USD per month, billed monthly, and raises the allowance to 5,000 email sends/month and 100,000 pageviews/month, with unlimited responses. That is the clearer fit for teams that need defined pageview capacity as well as more email sends.

Enterprise costs 1798.88 USD per year, with annual plans only, and includes custom pageviews, custom email sends, unlimited responses, and unlimited users. Its user allowance and enterprise access controls make it the option for larger organizations; the annual-only term is a commitment compared with the monthly lower tiers.

A 14-day trial includes Essentials and Premium features. CSV response downloads and branding suppression require a paid plan, so those capabilities cannot be fully evaluated during the trial without subscribing.

Platforms

Qualaroo is available on web, iOS, Android, and through an API. Its iOS and Android SDKs support in-app feedback, while the web offering covers website surveys and behavior views.

Who it's for

Qualaroo is best for teams that want to combine targeted surveys with behavior views and a way to interpret free-text answers. It is especially relevant when feedback needs to be collected inside a website or mobile app and tied to user activity. Small teams can start on the free plan, while teams with regular response volume will likely need a paid tier; businesses with access-control or collaboration needs should consider Enterprise.

It is less suitable for organizations that require survey responses to be encrypted at rest, or for teams that need trial access to CSV downloads or branding suppression before paying.

Pros and cons

Contextual survey controls: targeting, triggers, branching, and a broad set of question types help tailor feedback to a user’s situation.
Feedback with behavior context: heatmaps and recordings add clicks, scrolls, and drop-off views to survey responses.
Useful mobile and integration coverage: iOS and Android SDKs and a range of named integrations support feedback across apps and connected services.
Free use is tightly capped: 50 responses, 500 email sends, and 10k pageviews limit the free plan to modest volumes.
Response storage is not encrypted: AWS Security Groups restrict access, but this may not meet every organization’s security requirements.
Some trial features are paywalled: CSV downloads and branding suppression require a paid plan despite the 14-day trial.

Alternatives

Beamer is worth comparing for teams interested in its free tier, which includes 1,000 MAUs, one teammate, one language, and a watermark; its NPS add-on costs 99.00 USD per month.

Pendo Analytics may suit teams that prioritize product analytics and in-app guides, with a free plan for 500 monthly active users and unlimited web and mobile app keys.

Refiner offers a free tier capped at 25 survey responses per month, an option for teams with very modest response needs.

SatisMeter has a free plan with 25 responses per month and no free trial, for buyers comparing a low-volume free option.

Userback offers a free plan with two seats, two projects, seven-day feedback availability, and unlimited feedback collection.

Doorbell.io is another freemium feedback option, with a free plan for up to two team members and one application.

Featurebase offers a free plan with one seat and unlimited conversations, including Feedback.

Hively has a free plan with unlimited ratings and up to three users, a different starting point for teams focused on ratings.

Verdict

Choose Qualaroo if your team needs targeted in-app surveys, behavior context, and tools for interpreting written feedback in one product. Its strongest case is the combination of Nudges with heatmaps, recordings, and text analysis; its clearest drawbacks are the free plan’s low response ceiling and the lack of encrypted survey-response storage. Teams that need those responses encrypted at rest should look elsewhere.
