Overview

Admissions lets families apply online and follow application review status. The system also supports registration for Junior WAEC (BECE) and Senior WAEC (WASSCE), a useful fit for schools managing these exams alongside day-to-day student records.

Schools can configure grading formulas for assessments and generate report cards. E-Transcript adds academic transcripts and digital certificates, with PDF export and authenticity verification. Fee Payment tracks payments and balances, issues receipts and supports installments; payment status is integrated with student records. These functions cover several important school workflows, though the service requires internet access and is not a fit for schools that need offline use.

Key features

Assessment and records

Configured grading formulas and report cards support routine assessment work, while progress reports and a parent/student portal give the system a role beyond staff administration. Data can be imported and exported, and users can export student records, grade reports and financial data in formats such as Excel or PDF. That portability gives schools a way to retain working copies of core records.

Security and support

The service describes encrypted data transmission, secure cloud storage, regular backups and access controls, and says it does not share school data with third parties. Support includes video tutorials, written guides, email and phone assistance. Senior Secondary Plan users also get live staff training, an extra onboarding option for schools managing the broader plan.

Pricing

Gradebook.ng uses a freemium model with a free plan and a 30-day trial. The free plan costs 0.00 NGN per free and supports up to 50 students with essential grade management. That cap makes it a sensible starting point for a small school assessing basic grading needs, but it is not the full admissions, transcript and fee-tracking package described for the product.

The Junior Secondary Plan costs 15000.00 NGN per year, billed annually, with per-term payment options also offered. It covers JSS 1–3 and up to 200 students, with comprehensive features. It is the more targeted paid option for junior secondary schools within that enrollment ceiling; schools with senior classes or more than 200 students should look to the higher plan.

The Senior Secondary Plan costs 30000.00 NGN per year, billed annually, with per-term payment options also offered. It covers JSS 1 through SSS 3, has unlimited students, includes advanced features and provides priority support. Schools needing full secondary coverage or room to grow past the junior plan's cap have a clear reason to pay more. Per-term payment options soften the annual commitment, though the quoted prices are annual.

Platforms

Gradebook.ng is available on the web. Because it is cloud-based and requires internet access, schools should ensure staff and families can connect when they need the system.

Who it's for

The intended users include students, teachers, bursars, administrators and parents in secondary schools. It is strongest for Nigerian schools that want admissions, exam registration, grading, academic documents and fee balances handled within one school system. A school seeking only an individual teacher's classroom gradebook may prefer a more narrowly scoped tool.

Pros and cons

Pros: Admissions, WAEC registration, grading, transcripts and fee tracking address connected secondary-school workflows rather than grading alone.
Pros: The Senior Secondary Plan covers JSS 1 through SSS 3 with unlimited students, avoiding a stated enrollment ceiling for schools choosing that tier.
Pros: PDF transcript and certificate export, authenticity verification, and export of student, grade and financial data support document handling and portability.
Cons: Internet access is required, ruling it out for schools that need offline operation.
Cons: The free plan is limited to 50 students and essential grade management, so schools needing broader administration must consider a paid tier.
Cons: The Junior Secondary Plan stops at 200 students and JSS 1–3; schools with senior classes or larger enrollment need the higher-priced Senior Secondary Plan.

Alternatives

For other options, see Gradebook Software. SimpleGradebook is worth considering when Android or iOS access matters alongside web use; it also has a free plan and trial. Gradebox suits a teacher who wants a free web plan for one classroom, with 120 single-page assignment submissions or grades per month. GradingPal is another web-based freemium option, but it has no free trial.

NavEd Free Gradebook may fit a teacher who only needs a free gradebook for one class of up to 10 students. iVake Gradebook is a paid alternative for institutions in India, with a campus operations plan for up to 200 students at 8.00 INR per month, billed at ₹8 per student per month. Jupiter is a paid option with gradebook, communications and administration included, plus optional scheduler, enrollment, payments and state reporting upgrades.

TeacherEase may suit larger organizations comparing a paid system priced by active employees; its stated tier is 104.06 USD per year for 500–999 teachers. Additio App is a paid alternative whose Teachers Standard plan costs 13.99 EUR per year and includes unlimited students and groups, evaluations and rubrics.

Verdict

Gradebook.ng is a strong fit for Nigerian secondary schools that want admissions, assessment, transcripts and fee tracking connected in one web-based system. Its best reason to choose it is the breadth of those school workflows, backed by export options and a larger plan with unlimited students. Look elsewhere if offline access is essential, or if a school needs only a small classroom gradebook rather than secondary-school administration.
