Overview

NotaryCentral is a remote online notarization service paired with tools for managing a notary business. It is aimed at independent notaries and teams handling both signings and the work around them. Its breadth is a strong draw, but ongoing use can mean paying both for business tools and for each notarization.

Key features

The e-Journal supports searchable entries, signatures, thumbprints and ID numbers, with PDF and full-data exports. A tamper-evident hash is created when an entry is saved, so a later edit causes the hash not to match. Entries can also be created offline, even while signed out, and synced after connectivity returns. That is useful for field work, though it does not eliminate the need to reconnect and sync.

Notarization includes audio-video sessions, electronic notarization, identity verification and storage for notarized records. Verification and biometrics use a different credit rate from notarizations without verification, so the per-signing cost depends on the workflow.

Business tools extend beyond the signing itself. Booking links can show availability, fees and add-ons, collect signer details and document uploads, and accept optional upfront payment. Stripe and Square can be configured for booking payments; Square is also an optional card-payment integration for accounting. Google Calendar and Google Maps may be connected. Accounting generates year-end profit-and-loss, mileage, expense and 1099/payment reports for download as CSV or PDF.

NotaryCentral says transmissions use SSL/TLS encryption and sensitive account information is encrypted and access-controlled in storage. It says it does not sell customer data, lists or notarization records. Its Extract from ID feature processes extracted text temporarily and does not store the original ID image on its servers. Built-in AI answers draw on state notary handbooks with citations, and reminders address notaries who still need a paper journal.

Pricing

Two free options, Business Suite Free and e-Journal Free, each cost 0.00 USD per free and cover the first 15 RON signings, with no credit card required and email support. These are a useful way to begin, but the 15-signing cap makes them a starting tier rather than an ongoing option for regular volume.

For individual notarizations, RON credits without ID verification cost 1.50 USD per once, billed pay-as-you-go at one credit per notarization. Credits with ID verification and biometrics cost 3.00 USD per once, billed pay-as-you-go at two credits per notarization. Those rates are clear, but per-signing spend can add up for frequent users.

e-Journal Plus (Yearly) is 1.66 USD per year, billed annually and shown as $1.66/month. It includes unlimited entries, mobile app access and email support, making it the journal-focused choice; it does not include the Business Tools plan's unlimited appointments or priority support. Business Tools (Yearly) is 10.00 USD per year, billed annually and shown as $10.00/month, with unlimited appointments and priority support. The paid pricing note starts at $10/user/mo (annual), so team costs can depend on seats. A free trial is available, but its length is not established.

Platforms

NotaryCentral supports Android, iOS and web, as well as an API and extension. Mobile app access is included with e-Journal Plus, and mobile web is supported, giving users options beyond a desktop browser.

Who it's for

Independent notaries who want booking, journal, accounting and notarization workflows together are the clearest fit. Teams may also benefit from the business tools and appointments, though the per-user annual pricing note matters when estimating costs. It is less suitable for someone seeking a free service beyond the first 15 RON signings or predictable flat-rate notarization pricing.

Pros and cons

Pro: The journal pairs offline entry creation with searchable, exportable records and a hash that can flag later edits.
Pro: Booking and accounting features cover client intake, optional upfront payment and year-end business reports alongside notarization.
Con: Free tiers stop after 15 RON signings, and additional notarizations use pay-as-you-go credits.
Con: Verification and biometrics require two credits per notarization, twice the credit count of the non-verification option.
Con: The journal and business tools are separate annual plans, and team pricing is framed per user.
