Yes, but usually only the human-authored parts. The U.S. Copyright Office says music generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, and a text prompt alone does not make you the author. If you add original lyrics, melody, arrangement, performance, or substantial edits, those human contributions may be protected while the AI-generated material remains outside that protection. The Office’s January 2025 report also says you must disclose more-than-minimal AI material when registering a work and describe your contribution.
What Copyright Can Cover In An AI-Generated Song
Think of an AI track as a mixed work. Your copyright claim is strongest where you made creative choices that can be identified in the final recording.

- Lyrics: Original words you write can be your human-authored contribution.
- Melody and harmony: A melody you compose or substantially rewrite may qualify; merely selecting a generated result does not automatically make you its author.
- Arrangement and editing: Your original structure, transitions, instrument parts, and detailed edits may be protectable to the extent they reflect human authorship.
- Performance and recording: A vocal or instrumental performance you record is a separate human contribution from the generated backing track.
Save drafts, lyric files, project versions, prompt history, stem edits, and recordings. This evidence can show what you created if you later register or license the song.
How To Build A Stronger Human Contribution
- Start with a narrowly defined prompt, such as “Create a 90-second electronic backing track in A minor with an eight-bar intro, a 16-bar hook, and no lead vocal.”
- Replace generic generated lyrics with words you wrote yourself, then keep dated copies of every revision.
- Change the structure, chord movement, rhythm, instrumentation, and transitions in an editor or digital audio workstation.
- Record your own vocal, instrument, or spoken introduction, and document which sections are yours.
- Export the final mix and stems, retaining the unedited AI version so the human changes are traceable.
- When registering in the United States, disclose the AI-generated material and identify your human-authored portions.
A Xiaomi or Redmi phone is suitable for drafting prompts, editing lyrics, and recording a performance when the chosen service supports Android or a mobile browser. The copyright result still depends on the creative contribution, not on the phone model.

Tool Terms That Affect Your Practical Rights
Commercial permission from a service is a contract term. It does not turn material generated entirely by AI into copyrightable authorship. Check the current terms before releasing a track, because plans and licenses can change.
| Tool | Relevant stated term | Access information |
|---|---|---|
| Tunee | Free-plan music is for personal, non-commercial projects with attribution. Tunee says paid subscribers receive full commercial rights, while copyright law is still evolving. | Web, iOS, and macOS |
| Musicful | Free/Basic use is non-commercial; commercial use is limited to Standard/Pro plans. Downloads receive a non-exclusive perpetual license, while Musicful retains ownership of generated tracks. | Web, iOS, and Android |
| Songin.ai | Free downloads are watermarked MP3 files for personal use only. Music generated with a paid plan is stated to have full commercial rights. | Web only |
| Suno | The Free Plan does not include commercial rights. Suno states that songs created as a paid subscriber are yours to keep and use, with full commercial rights on Pro. | Web, iOS, and Android |
These statements describe permission to use a service’s output. They do not promise that a court or copyright office will protect every generated element. For any unsupported plan, feature, or country-specific term, check the vendor’s current terms before publishing.

Voices, Covers, And Samples Need Extra Care
Do not clone or imitate a real singer’s voice without that person’s permission. Spotify says vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it, and it supports AI disclosures in credits. Spotify’s policy announcement also describes protections against mass-uploaded spam.
Use only lyrics, recordings, samples, and reference audio you have permission to use. A tool’s commercial license cannot give you rights to someone else’s voice, composition, or recording. Tunee lists voice cloning and reference uploads, so obtain consent before using those functions and follow its terms. If a platform’s terms do not clearly cover a voice, cover song, or sample, ask the rights holder or choose different source material.

Publishing And Platform Disclosures
Copyright ownership and platform monetization are separate decisions. YouTube requires disclosure of realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance, using its altered-or-synthetic content label. Its inauthentic-content policy targets mass-produced, repetitive, or template-based uploads rather than AI use by itself. YouTube’s clarified guidance explains those categories.
For a Xiaomi phone workflow, keep the project file and authorship notes, disclose AI use where the destination requires it, and confirm that your selected plan allows the intended commercial use. That combination gives you a clearer record of what you made and what the service licensed.

Practical Answer For Xiaomi, Redmi, And POCO Users
- If you only type a prompt and download the result, assume the fully generated music itself is not protected by U.S. copyright.
- If you write lyrics, compose or substantially alter music, arrange sections, and perform or edit the recording, identify those human parts separately.
- Use a plan that grants the commercial permission you need, but do not confuse that permission with statutory copyright.
- Keep consent records for voices, covers, samples, and reference uploads.
- Check the destination platform’s AI disclosure and monetization rules before release.
