What Unizin Data Platform is

Unizin Data Platform (UDP) is a paid, cloud-native, single-tenant platform for higher education institutions using teaching and learning data for advising, institutional research, business intelligence, analytics, data science, and research. It integrates and warehouses data from student information systems, learning management systems, and connected learning tools. UDP normalizes records into a common dictionary and manages surrogate keys so information from different tools can be associated. It supports the Unizin Common Data Model for context data and 1EdTech Caliper for behavioral data. Context data is delivered as CSV every 24 hours, while behavioral events use JSON in real time. Institutions can use its data lake and marts with existing analytics, reporting, data science, and data virtualization tools. Canvas has an automated, managed integration configured once. SIS connections must be built to UDP’s loading schema, while learning-tool connections are usually vendor-developed. Institutions can use UDP as a managed PaaS or license it through Google Cloud Marketplace in their own Google Cloud Platform account.
