StorMagic SvHCI
StorMagic SvHCI is a full-stack hyperconverged infrastructure platform for x86 servers.
What StorMagic SvHCI is
StorMagic SvHCI is a full-stack hyperconverged infrastructure platform for x86 servers. Its Linux-based appliance combines KVM virtualization, Open vSwitch networking, StorMagic SvSAN storage, and management. StorMagic positions it for SMBs and edge environments where simpler infrastructure is needed. Clusters support one or two nodes; high availability requires two, synchronously mirrors data, and restarts affected VMs on the surviving node after failure. A cluster supports up to 50 HA VMs, or up to 100 non-HA VMs in a two-node setup. Each server includes a web Virtualization Manager, while Edge Control manages nodes and clusters centrally. VMware, OVF, and OVA imports are supported, but imports are one VM at a time. VM snapshots retain up to 16 per VM.
Good
- Integrated hypervisor, networking, and storage
- Synchronous two-node high availability
- Centralized Edge Control console
- Supports VMware, OVF, and OVA imports
- 24/7 Platinum support included
Watch out
- High availability requires two nodes
- VM imports are one at a time
- External storage cannot currently be added
Who it suits
It suits SMBs and edge-computing environments running x86 servers and needing integrated virtualization, storage, networking, and management. Two-node deployments suit users requiring synchronous high availability.
Verdict
SvHCI provides a compact stack for virtualization and storage with optional two-node failover. Check node, VM, snapshot, and storage constraints against your deployment design.
