What Project MUSE is

Project MUSE is a scholarly platform for humanities and social sciences content from university presses and nonprofit scholarly publishers. Its catalog contains more than 800 journals and over 100,000 books from 400 publishers, along with more than 6,000 open access books and over 100 open access journals. Users can search books, journals, and other digital resources together, then narrow results by content type, language, journal, date, or publisher. Materials include journal articles, book chapters, critical editions, reference works, primary sources, abstracts, and summaries. Content is provided in HTML, PDF, and EPUB; EPUB files require a compatible reader because there is no in-browser EPUB reader. MUSE describes subscribed or purchased content as DRM-free, allowing unlimited access, simultaneous use, downloading, and printing. Institutional authentication supports several methods, while MyMUSE accounts provide citation saving and content alerts. A 45-day trial is available, and the Premium Journals Collection for school libraries is listed at $2,095 a year.
