What Open Prompter is

Open Prompter is a free iOS teleprompter that reads Markdown files from a folder you choose. It opens .md and .markdown files and can save edits back to those files on the device. Folders may be in iCloud Drive, an Obsidian vault, Dropbox, or another location available through the Files app. The front camera can record while you read, saving each take beside its script. On-device speech recognition follows your words and moves the page accordingly, while audio remains on the phone. Recordings can include QuickTime chapter markers and Adobe XMP markers that Premiere Pro reads as timeline markers. Open Prompter requires iOS 17 or later and is built with SwiftUI. Its source is available under the MIT License. The app has no account, server component, or network functionality of its own; its maker says it does not see, store, or transmit your files. The maker is Leland Dutcher, an independent developer in the United States. Bugs and feature requests use a public GitHub issue tracker. The free plan costs nothing, with no subscription or in-app purchases. It reads scripts but does not create them.
