Lit Mind Maps is a web tool for academic literature searches, citation mapping, and research starting drafts, intended for Masters and PhD students.
What Lit Mind Maps is
Lit Mind Maps is a web tool for academic literature searches, citation mapping, and research starting drafts, intended for Masters and PhD students. Enter a research question in plain language or provide a paper title or DOI to search academic papers. It returns an answer with citations tied to retrieved papers, which also appear in a three-branch literature mind map and an idea timeline. You can change the branch set before searching again. A citation map places a seed paper, its references, and papers citing it as bubbles organized by year and citation count. Five optional answer sets cover definition, mechanism, evidence, effects, and comparison, with three branches in each set. After signing in and searching, users can download a Word draft for a literature review or proposal. Paper records are supplied by Semantic Scholar; searches use titles, abstracts, and metadata rather than reading every paper in full. The site presents results as a starting aid and advises checking each paper. The free plan includes two chats; the Monthly plan is US$15 per month and includes Word starting drafts.
Good
- Search by question, paper title, or DOI
- Maps papers in a mind map and timeline
- Citation map shows references and citing papers
- Word starting drafts available on Monthly plan
Watch out
- Free plan is limited to two chats
- Searches do not read every paper in full
- Monthly plan auto-renews until canceled
Who it suits
It suits Masters and PhD students looking for literature-search, citation-mapping, and review-drafting support. It is not a substitute for checking papers or producing a full-text PRISMA 2020 review.
Verdict
Lit Mind Maps combines paper search with citation and idea mapping, plus a Word starting draft on its paid plan. Treat its answers as a starting point and verify the papers yourself.
