What Canonical Landscape is
Canonical Landscape is a systems management tool for administering Ubuntu desktops, servers, cloud instances, IoT devices, and other Ubuntu systems. Administrators use a central portal to manage software updates, run remote scripts, handle packages and repositories, set role-based access, and monitor machines. Landscape can alert teams about updates and graph temperature, disk and memory use, system load, and custom metrics. A single instance can manage up to 40,000 machines, with an option to scale beyond that. It is available as Canonical-hosted SaaS, Managed Landscape, or self-hosted software. The free SaaS account with Ubuntu Pro covers up to five machines. Managed Landscape costs $6,861 a year per physical machine on public clouds, VMware, OpenStack, or LXD, or $9,470 a year per physical machine on bare metal. Self-hosting requires the organization to install, host, and maintain the software, with no price listed. Landscape also provides a scriptable API and integrations for configuration management, monitoring, and ticketing systems.
