What Candor Mod Manager is

Candor Mod Manager is a free tool for setting up and installing mods, with the stated aim of supporting compatibility with almost any game. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux and is described by its maker as lightweight and usable without installation. To configure a game, select its executable and mods folder, then add downloaded mods; installation copies their files into that folder. Setup can be configured to always extract ZIP files. Once mods are installed, the game can be started from the manager’s Game menu. Some games may require a separate module, with a Sims 4 module given as an example. The product page marks Candor as in development. ZIP downloads are listed at 46 MB for Windows, 45 MB for macOS, and 50 MB for Linux. The maker cautions that the macOS and Linux builds may not work correctly because they cannot test them. Optional contributions are listed at $1.00, $2.00, $5.00, and $10.00; PayPal and card checkout are offered for those contributions.

Who it suits

Candor may suit players who want to configure mod folders and install downloaded mods by copying files. Its per-game setup and support for Windows, macOS, and Linux may be useful across different systems, though the maker cautions that the macOS and Linux builds may not work correctly.

Verdict

Candor offers a free, per-game approach to copying downloaded mods into a selected folder, with ZIP extraction and game launching included. Consider the in-development status and the maker’s caveat about the macOS and Linux builds before choosing it.
