AWS Step Functions
AWS Step Functions is a visual workflow service for coordinating AWS services and HTTPS endpoints, including SaaS applications.
What AWS Step Functions is
AWS Step Functions is a visual workflow service for coordinating AWS services and HTTPS endpoints, including SaaS applications. Workflows are state machines written in Amazon States Language, and the console’s Workflow Studio provides a visual designer. Workflow logic can branch, run steps in parallel, set timeouts and retries, and handle errors with options such as try/catch and rollback. Service integrations connect to over 200 AWS services, while AWS SDK integrations can invoke over 9,000 API actions across over 200 services. HTTPS endpoint integration can connect directly to HTTP-based services. For large datasets, Distributed Map can process data such as Amazon S3 contents with up to 10,000 parallel child executions in a Map Run. Execution history, CloudWatch Logs, and AWS X-Ray help users review and analyze runs. Standard executions can last up to one year, while Express executions can last up to five minutes. Input or output for a task, state, or execution is limited to 256 KiB.
