AWS IoT SiteWise
AWS IoT SiteWise is a managed service for collecting, storing, organizing, and monitoring industrial equipment data.
What AWS IoT SiteWise is
AWS IoT SiteWise is a managed service for collecting, storing, organizing, and monitoring industrial equipment data. Asset models arrange equipment data at enterprise, site, area, and machine levels. SiteWise Edge runs on local hardware to collect, organize, and process data before sending it to AWS Cloud; it supports OPC-UA, MQTT, and protocols available through partners. Gateway software can run on local Linux or Microsoft Windows Server devices. Storage options include hot and warm tiers, plus a customer-managed cold tier using Amazon S3. SiteWise Edge can transfer collected data to Amazon S3, AWS IoT SiteWise, AWS IoT Core, Amazon Timestream, and Amazon Kinesis. Communication over the internet uses TLS encryption, and cloud data is sent over MQTT or HTTPS. Customers can use AWS KMS customer-managed keys to encrypt asset property and aggregate values in the cloud. Getting started requires an AWS account and a Region where the service is available. AWS states that SiteWise is not in scope of any AWS compliance programs. The Edge Data Collection Pack is free; the Edge Data Processing Pack costs $200 a month per active gateway, with AWS IoT Greengrass charged separately.
