Cloning a voice or making an AI song cover does not, by itself, establish that you have permission to use the voice or the underlying music, or that your use is fair use. A tool’s commercial-use license may cover the generated output under its terms, but that alone does not establish rights to someone else’s voice, song, recording, or samples. Permission and copyright are separate questions. A generated track’s license does not necessarily cover the source song or recording you supplied, or authorize an imitation of another person’s voice. Get consent for a real person’s voice, and check each platform’s terms for voice inputs, generated output, and intended use. This is a practical rights check, not a legal determination.

A Practical Voice-Cloning Or Cover Workflow On Your Phone
- Choose the source voice. Use your own voice or get the person’s consent before cloning or imitating them. Keep a record of that consent.
- Check the music source. For a cover, identify whether you are using an existing composition, recording, or both. A tool’s output license does not, on the information stated here, settle permissions for those source materials.
- Pick a tool for the specific task. For a personalized birthday song in your cloned voice, AI Singer describes that use. For a cover made from an existing track, AI Song Cover describes that workflow. - Voice consent: Do you have permission for the voice being cloned or imitated?

- Disclosure: Does the platform require a synthetic-content label or AI disclosure for this upload? Spotify announced support for DDEX AI disclosures in credits and said vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it. YouTube requires disclosure for realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance.
