1. Suno — Best All-Round Text-To-Song Choice
Suno turns one text prompt into a complete song with vocals, lyrics, and production, and supports editing, remixing, song extensions, section replacement, and stem export. The free plan offers 50 credits per day; its free outputs do not include commercial rights or stem separation. Paid plans start at $8 per month in the listing, while the Pro download limit is 20 songs per month. Check current plan terms before relying on a track commercially.

Eleven Music lets you set genre, mood, instruments, and structure, then adjust elements without restarting. It supports full songs with vocals, lyrics, or instrumental arrangements, along with section editing, inpainting, and genre transitions. 3. Soundverse AI Beat Maker — Best For Prompted Instrumental Beats
Soundverse is the clearest fit here for a prompt that describes a beat to rap or write over rather than a finished vocal song. Its examples include dark 140 BPM trap and dusty boom-bap; prompts can specify tempo, key, and mood. It generates drums, basslines, melodies, and arrangements, then offers WAV mixes, separated stems, and MIDI for further editing. The free tier starts with 1,000 tokens upon signup. The listing says commercial licensing is available, but check its terms for the plan and use you have in mind.
4. Loudly — Best For Structured Music Prompts
Loudly suits prompts where the sound needs concrete production direction. Alongside a text description, you can set mood or song formula and refine energy, key, BPM, structure, instruments, and duration. Its listed styles include ambient, drum ’n’ bass, EDM, hip-hop, lo-fi, reggaeton, rock, and more. The free generated-track limit is 30 seconds; licensing depends on paid-plan terms. It also lists remixing, mastering, effects, and distribution tools, which may help creators who want more than a prompt-to-audio starting point.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How To Write A More Useful Music Prompt
A prompt works better as a short creative brief than as a string of loosely related genre labels. Start with what the track is for, then describe its energy, core sound, structure, and whether it needs vocals. Use controls such as tempo, key, duration, and instruments only when the chosen generator offers them.

- State the use: For example, “background instrumental for a quiet phone-shot travel montage.”
- Describe the feel: Add a mood and energy, such as “warm, reflective, and restrained.”
- Name the musical ingredients: Specify a genre, instruments, and any rhythm direction you actually want. For a beat-focused prompt, a concrete description such as “dusty boom-bap drums with a mellow bassline” gives the generator a clearer target.
- Set the format: Say whether you want an instrumental or vocals, and describe a simple progression such as a sparse opening followed by a fuller chorus.
- Revise one thing at a time: If the result is close, change one detail—such as energy or instrumentation—rather than replacing the whole brief. Use editing or section tools only where that service lists them.
Example prompt: “Create a mellow instrumental for a late-night city montage: soft electronic percussion, warm bass, airy synth melody, restrained energy, a sparse opening, then a fuller middle section. No vocals.” This is a prompt-writing example, not a guarantee that every generator supports each instruction.
Rights And Uploaded Material
Rights differ by service and plan: free-use restrictions, attribution, downloads, and commercial permissions are not interchangeable. Check the current terms for the exact plan and destination before publishing or monetizing a generated track. For reference audio, lyrics, or a cloned voice, use material and voices only with the relevant person’s permission, and review the platform’s terms for those inputs.
