Xiaomi has a new tablet device to offer buyers, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4. This, when most have been expecting the company to launch the new Pad 6 series of tablets that Xiaomi has been known to be working on. The new Pad 5 Pro 12.4 comes with many of the features that the 11-inch Pad 5 Pro launched last year came with. Those features include a Snapdragon 870 chipset and a 50 MP primary camera at the rear.

However, with the Pad 5 Pro 12.4, there is now a pair of 2 MP sensors that replaces the 5 MP depth of field camera that the original 11-inch Pad 5 Pro came with. Similarly, the 8 MP front shooter on the pad 5 Pro has also been replaced by a 20 MP sensor this time. Other features of the front facing cam include 1/3.4-inch optical format, an f/2.2 aperture, and 0.8 µm-wide pixels. The rear camera module also bears a strong resemblance with the same on the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12S series or the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition.

Among the other changes to be seen with the new Pad 5 Pro 12.4 include a larger display that is now of 12.4-inches. It however is the same IPS display having a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. Pixel density, therefore, drops down to 243 PPI, from the 274 PPI to be seen on the original 11-inch Pad 5 Pro. The peak brightness rating however remains the same at 500 nits while the refresh rate too continues to be the same at 120 Hz. Other display qualities, that is HDR10 certification of support for Dolby Vision too remain the same.

The increase in dimensions naturally translates to an increased weight as well, 620 grams compared to the 515 grams of its smaller sibling. The Pad 5 Pro 12.4 also ships with MIUI 13 which is based on Android 12. The tablet is already on sale in China where the base model with 6 gigs of RAM and 128 GB of storage is priced at 2,999 Yuan, which comes to around $445 USD. Next comes the model with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage which is priced at 3,499 Yuan, which translates to around $519 USD. The top-end version with 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage is priced at 4,199 Yuan or around $623 USD.

No word yet as to when or if at all the new Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 will launch outside of China.
