Turn your voice memo into finished lyrics by transcribing the words, marking the phrases that carry the melody or emotion, then shaping those phrases into sections while checking each new line against the original rhythm. Note any hummed or sung phrase separately: a transcript captures words, but the useful shape may be the syllables and stresses you sang around them.

Treat generated lines as suggestions. Choose the lines that retain the memo’s point of view and concrete details; discard polished lines that could belong to anyone. Put the strongest memorable phrase in the refrain if it works when repeated, and reserve the details that explain the situation for the verse.
Check The Lyric Against Your Recorded Cadence
SongIntent lists cadence capture, melody sketches, structure, and line-level revisions. It is web-only, so open it in your phone’s browser if that fits your workflow. Use the original memo as your reference while revising: speak or sing each candidate line over the same phrase, and shorten or replace words that force you to rush, stretch an awkward syllable, or move the natural emphasis away from the important word.

For a more manual pass, Songcraft lists syllable counting, lyric dictionaries, chord suggestions, and transposition, and is provided through the web. Use its syllable count to compare candidate lines, but let the melody decide: two lines with the same count can still stress different syllables. Songcraft’s Basic plan is limited to five songs; its listed paid plan starts at $5 per month.
Make A Clean Lyric Sheet
- Choose one version of each line and label the sections you established from the memo. Use consistent labels such as “Verse 1” and “Refrain” only when those parts actually serve those roles.
- Read the complete lyric aloud, then sing it with the memo. Check that repeated sections use the same words unless a change is intentional, and that the final line feels like an ending rather than a note to yourself.
- Save the clean text separately from your rough transcript and keep the memo with it. RHYMEBOOK lists text as its export format; Songcraft’s listed export format is also text. Check each vendor’s current instructions for the exact save or export steps.
