Overview

Suno is a prompt-driven music-making service for people who want to turn an idea or an existing recording into a song. It suits creators who want generated vocals and a route from song creation into editing and stem work, though its free tier is for personal experimentation rather than commercial release.

Its appeal is the breadth of the workflow: generate, edit, and separate tracks in one service. The trade-off is that meaningful download capacity and commercial rights begin with a paid plan, while credits reset rather than roll over.

Key features

Text prompts can produce complete songs in under a minute, and Suno can generate vocals as well as accept audio uploads. That makes it useful for quickly developing song ideas from either a written concept or source audio; free users can upload up to eight minutes, while Premier raises the upload allowance to 30 minutes.

Stem separation produces vocal and instrument stems, giving creators material to work with beyond a single finished mix. Premier adds three types of stem separation. Multitrack editing and MIDI sequencing extend the service toward production, and Premier's Suno Studio adds MIDI, effects, and automation. Pro and Premier also let subscribers create custom models from their own recordings, a more tailored option for users prepared to pay for the higher-capacity workflow.

Exports include MP3 and WAV, and users can share music with an audience from a small circle to millions of fans. Paid-subscriber songs can be used in videos, albums, and other projects; songs made on the Free plan do not have commercial rights. Credits are use-it-or-lose-it each day or month, depending on the allowance. Purchased top-up credits do not expire, but require an active subscription.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per month and provides 50 credits per day, up to 10 songs per day, and an eight-minute audio upload allowance. It requires no credit card, but includes no commercial rights or monthly song downloads. It is a reasonable way to explore generation, not a fit for creators who need licensed commercial use or a download quota.

Pro costs 8.00 USD per month, with taxes calculated at checkout. It includes 2,500 credits and 20 song downloads per month, allows up to 10 songs at once, and retains the eight-minute upload limit. Commercial use rights make it the practical entry point for creators publishing generated songs, though the monthly download allowance and non-carryover credits place a ceiling on ongoing output. Annual billing discounts both paid plans by 20%; Pro's displayed annual-billing saving is $24.

Premier costs 24.00 USD per month, with taxes calculated at checkout. It raises capacity to 10,000 credits and 60 downloads per month, keeps the 10-at-once generation limit, and increases uploads to 30 minutes. It also unlocks every feature, including Suno Studio and three stem-separation types. The larger allowance and production tools make it the better fit for heavier use; occasional creators may not need the extra capacity. Annual billing discounts the plan by 20%, with a displayed saving of $72.

Both paid plans include commercial rights for songs created while subscribed. Subscription credits do not carry over between days or months, so unused capacity is lost at reset. Top-up credits persist, but only while a subscription remains active.

Platforms

Suno supports web and mobile, with Android and iOS apps. That makes it accessible across desktop and phone workflows, though the service's production tools may matter most to users working beyond a mobile-only setup.

Who it's for

Suno is best for songwriters and creators who want fast prompt-based drafts, generated vocals, or stems they can continue shaping. Pro fits users who need commercial rights and a moderate monthly download allowance; Premier is aimed at higher-volume creators who want longer uploads and the full production feature set. It is a weaker choice for anyone needing commercial rights without paying, or who depends on unused monthly credits accumulating.

Pros and cons

Pro: Complete songs can be generated from text in under a minute, making it suited to rapid idea development.
Pro: Uploads, multitrack editing, stem separation, and MP3/WAV exports support work beyond prompt generation.
Pro: Paid plans grant commercial use rights, with Pro starting at 8.00 USD per month.
Con: The Free plan has no commercial rights or monthly downloads, limiting its usefulness for publishing.
Con: Subscription credits expire at the daily or monthly reset rather than accumulating.
Con: The eight-minute upload allowance on Free and Pro is shorter than Premier's 30-minute limit.

Alternatives

Eleven Music is another freemium web option; its Free plan is marked personal-use-only and provides 10,000 credits per month, so compare it if a web-based alternative with a stated free credit allowance is more important than mobile access.

Mureka offers web, Windows, and macOS access, making it worth considering if desktop platform choice is a priority.

MusicWave.ai has a free tier with 10 signup credits and streaming-only, personal use, so it may suit someone who wants to try a small number of generations without a credit card.

SongUp AI offers three free instant songs for personal use, an alternative for someone who wants a defined small free allowance.

Treblo is another freemium option with web, iOS, and Android availability.

Wubble is a web alternative whose Free plan allows three total downloads, which may suit users prioritizing a stated free download allowance.

Udio is available on web and iOS, and its Free plan offers 10 daily credits and 100 monthly credits, making it a comparable option for users who want to weigh another credit-based free tier.

Melody Genie offers web and Android access, so it is an alternative for users seeking Android availability.

Verdict

Choose Suno if you want fast prompt-based songwriting with vocals, uploads, and tools to edit or separate the result, especially if paid commercial rights matter. Pro is the sensible starting point for creators who need those rights without Premier's larger allowances. Look elsewhere if you need commercial use on a free plan or want credits to carry forward.
