Overview

Designed for private, Montessori, public and faith-based schools and childcare centers, TUIO combines tuition and fee collection with enrollment, records, attendance, fundraising and family communication. That breadth can reduce the need to manage these tasks in separate tools, though the product is web-only.

TUIO was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Families pay schools directly rather than passing funds through TUIO, a useful distinction for organizations evaluating how payments are handled.

Key features

Billing and payments

Automatic invoices, configurable programs, payment plans, accounts receivable management and automated payments cover routine tuition collection. Recurring billing and autopay can reduce manual follow-up, while reconciliation tools and financial-aid workflows address related administrative needs. Schools using QuickBooks Online can follow a SaasAnt workflow with exported deposit and payout data; that is a connected export process, not a native QuickBooks integration.

Families pay the school directly. TUIO says it neither holds nor forwards the funds, and that card and bank details pass from the payer’s browser to the payment processor without TUIO collecting or storing those numbers.

Enrollment and records

Custom registration forms, digital waitlists, form-based fee collection and family messaging let schools manage several enrollment steps in one place. Digital student records include custom fields, exports, lists and internal profile notes, giving staff flexible ways to organize and use student information.

Attendance and communication

Staff can record attendance manually or automatically, manage classes and schedules, and notify parents about absences and late arrivals. These tools make TUIO more than a billing system, particularly for providers that want attendance and family updates alongside administrative workflows.

Security and support

TUIO says two-factor authentication is mandatory, traffic and stored records are encrypted, and student and family records are hosted in Canada on AWS infrastructure. The Professional plan includes unlimited human support for staff and families, onboarding and a live setup session with a product specialist—meaningful help for organizations implementing a system across a location.

Pricing

TUIO has no free plan despite its freemium pricing model. The lower-cost option is Starter, with custom pricing. It includes billing and payments, enrollment contracts and registration forms, donations and fundraising, parent communications and unlimited human support. Its price is not published, so organizations need a quote to compare its cost with Professional.

Professional costs 500.00 USD per year, billed annually per location, with one annual fee for each physical location. Canadian schools are billed in CAD and US schools in USD. This straightforward location-based fee may suit a single-site provider, but multi-site organizations should account for a separate annual charge at each location.

The TUIO Professional plan is also priced at 500.00 USD per year, billed annually per location; US schools pay in US dollars and Canadian schools in Canadian dollars. It adds a $0.75 fee per bank debit transaction. There is no setup fee, but SMS carries a monthly activation fee plus a per-message cost. Custom multi-year contracts are available. The transaction and messaging charges matter for schools that expect frequent payment or SMS use, and the annual commitment is less flexible than monthly billing.

Platforms

TUIO runs on the web. Organizations that need dedicated Android or iOS apps should consider whether a web-only option meets their staff and family needs.

Who it's for

TUIO is best suited to schools and childcare providers that want tuition collection, enrollment, student records and attendance connected in one platform, and that can budget for an annual per-location fee. It is less suitable for buyers who require a free plan, a mobile app, or an entry-level option with a published price.

Pros and cons

Pros

Broad school administration coverage: Billing, enrollment, records, attendance, fundraising and family communication sit within one platform.
Support is included with Professional: Unlimited human support, onboarding and a live setup session can help staff and families during implementation.
Direct payment handling: Schools receive family payments directly, while TUIO says it does not hold or forward funds or store card and bank numbers.

Cons

No free plan: Organizations cannot use TUIO at no cost, and Starter has custom pricing rather than a published price.
Annual location-based billing: Professional requires an annual fee for each physical location, which can add up for multi-site providers.
Extra payment and messaging charges: Bank debits cost $0.75 each, and SMS has activation and per-message fees.
Web-only access: There is no listed Android or iOS platform for users who need a dedicated mobile app.

Alternatives

Byntix School Fee Management is worth considering if a free plan or Android access is more important than TUIO’s wider combination of school and childcare administration tools.

Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT uses custom quotes based on organizational needs, with implementation, training and ongoing support potentially included; consider it when tailored pricing and implementation support are priorities.

Finalsite Enrollment is a paid web and API option with demo-based pricing, for buyers considering a dedicated enrollment product.

Flywire Student Financial Software offers quote-based SaaS pricing that varies by institution size and solution, making it an option for institutions that want pricing shaped around those factors.

Pearspark has a free trial and a $50.00 USD monthly plan that includes the first 20 students, then charges by student across higher enrollment tiers. It may suit buyers who prefer monthly pricing tied to enrollment rather than TUIO’s annual per-location fee.

Schoolites Fee Management starts at 10.00 INR per student per month with all modules included; chains with 1,000 or more students can get custom rates and white-label options. Consider it when per-student monthly pricing or chain-specific arrangements better match your needs.

Rynoex Fee Management is another fee-management alternative.

Lumion Payments is another paid option.

Verdict

Choose TUIO if your school or childcare center wants billing, enrollment, student records and attendance under one roof, and values included onboarding and human support. The annual fee per physical location and additional bank-debit and SMS costs are the main reasons to look elsewhere, especially if you need a free plan, mobile apps or more flexible pricing.
