Overview

POINT is volunteer-management software for nonprofits coordinating opportunities from recruitment through hour tracking. It suits organizations that need more than a sign-up sheet, particularly those managing multiple programs or recurring volunteer work. Its free tier is unusually broad, while application and waiver workflows, kiosks, and custom reporting sit behind a substantial paid subscription.

Recruitment tools include website widgets, a hosted volunteer hub, social-media integrations, and email invitations. The platform organizes volunteer profiles, administrators, programs, groups, cohosts, and documents; volunteers can register for shifts and groups, including youth and guest registrations and ongoing opportunities.

Key features

Recruitment and onboarding

Custom applications, waivers, background checks, progress tracking, and admin approvals support a more structured intake process. Application management and waiver management are Pro features, so organizations that need formal screening or consent workflows will outgrow Free. POINT says Checkr handles background checks and POINT receives only status, not the report or its contents.

Scheduling and tracking

Volunteers can sign up for shifts and groups, including recurring opportunities on Pro. Hours can be logged automatically, manually, or through self-check-in kiosks; custom reports and exports give coordinators more control over how participation data is summarized. Kiosks, recurring opportunities, and custom reports are Pro features, which makes Free a better fit for simpler scheduling and standard reporting than for detailed operational oversight.

Communications and integrations

POINT supports SMS and email, automated confirmations and reminders, push notifications, and calendar integrations. The integrations page names Kindful, Okta, Checkr, PayPal, Venmo, Givebutter, Donorbox, DonorPerfect, Donately, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn. SMS is offered through add-on bundles on Pro, so teams expecting to message by text should account for that separately.

Privacy and support

POINT says it uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information and does not sell volunteer personal information. Free includes 20-minute onboarding, office hours, webinars, and chat support; Pro adds one-hour onboarding and priority chat, while Teams adds multi-session onboarding, team training, and priority support.

Pricing

POINT has a free plan and a 14-day trial. The pricing FAQ limits service to nonprofits in the U.S. and Ukraine and defines nonprofit accounts as charitable community 501(c)(3) organizations.

Free: 0.00 USD per free. Unlimited volunteers and admins, signups and scheduling, event/contact/group management, messaging and reminders, time tracking and reporting, website widgets and integrations, volunteer portal, and mobile app. It omits application management, program management, check-in kiosks, waiver management, and custom reports, so it fits organizations with straightforward workflows rather than formal intake or tailored reporting needs.
Pro (annual): 99.00 USD per month billed annually. Adds application and program management, check-in kiosks and QR codes, recurring opportunities, waivers, document storage, custom reports, background-check integration, and SMS add-on bundles. This is the lower-cost paid route for organizations needing those capabilities, but the annual billing term is a commitment.
Pro (monthly): 140.00 USD per month billed monthly. It includes the same Pro features without annual billing, at a higher monthly price.
Teams (annual): 199.00 USD per month billed annually. Adds role-based access controls, admin task management, program segmentation, and branded communication to Pro, making it the stronger fit for organizations coordinating work across teams or programs.
Teams (monthly): 299.00 USD per month billed monthly, with the same Teams features and no annual billing term.
Network: custom pricing. It adds multi-organization oversight, cross-organization impact tracking, centralized reporting, network-wide admin communication, and an aggregated opportunity feed for organizations working across a network.

The published plan descriptions do not set volunteer or administrator caps for Free or paid tiers, beyond Free’s stated unlimited volunteers and admins. SMS bundles are add-ons rather than an included unlimited allowance.

Platforms

POINT is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Its volunteer portal and mobile app support participation beyond the coordinator’s desktop workflow.

Who it's for

POINT is aimed at charitable community 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the U.S. and Ukraine. Free can serve organizations that need unlimited volunteers and admins with core signups, scheduling, messaging, and time tracking. Pro is the practical step up when applications, waivers, kiosks, recurring opportunities, or custom reporting are central; Teams is for organizations that also need access controls and program-level coordination.

Pros and cons

Pro: The free plan covers unlimited volunteers and admins alongside scheduling, messaging, and hour tracking, giving smaller or simpler operations room to coordinate without an immediate subscription.
Pro: Recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, communications, and reporting span the volunteer workflow rather than focusing only on shift signups.
Con: Several consequential workflows—application management, waivers, kiosks, and custom reports—require Pro, which costs 99.00 USD per month billed annually or 140.00 USD per month billed monthly.
Con: SMS is an add-on bundle, so Pro’s monthly price does not by itself cover a stated text-message allowance.
Con: Its nonprofit availability is limited to the U.S. and Ukraine, excluding organizations outside those locations.

Alternatives

Choose SignUp.com if a lighter, low-cost organizer setup is enough: its Basic plan is free and includes one primary organizer, one custom participant question, one group page, and email support.

VolunteerMark is worth considering when a small team can work within its free cap of 50 volunteers and one administrator, with unlimited event creation.

Vome may suit organizations that want a free starting point centered on an application form and onboarding sequence; its Recruit plan includes one of each, plus unlimited volunteers and admin seats.

Consider Charity Republic if a web-only service with monthly pricing tied to volunteer count better fits the organization.

Get Connected by Galaxy Digital is another option for organizations seeking custom pricing not based on volunteer count.

Volunteer Shift Manager is a narrower alternative for organizations whose main need is shift coordination and that can work within a free starter cap of 50 volunteers, 30 upcoming shifts, 250 emails per month, and 50 SMS reminders per month.

Church Volunteering fits a church team that can start with one team and up to 10 volunteers on its free plan, which relies on manual reminders.

Timecounts is an alternative for web-based volunteer programs seeking a free plan with one organizer, unlimited volunteers, a brandable hub, custom database fields, and time logs.

Verdict

POINT is a strong fit for eligible nonprofits that want a single system for recruiting, scheduling, communicating with, and tracking volunteers, with a free tier that covers core coordination at unlimited scale. Choose Pro when formal applications, waivers, kiosks, or custom reports justify the recurring cost; look elsewhere if the organization is outside the U.S. or Ukraine, or if a focused shift tool better matches its needs.
